G'day guys well some will know of my old wagon({DESCRIPTION})
Anyway the cancer was terminal . So in the end, I still want a real car to one day get on the road. my mate came around showing me a few cars in just cars, when he mentioned I'm suprised you don't get it it's only 4.95 I went f**k I thought it was 15. anyway one lunch i picked up a copy flicking through found a 1961 ranchwagon for 6 went around and checked it out, he wanted 5 and no lower, got a mate to check it over and the deal was struck. It's been complettely stripped , had the body off the chassy stripped it bak and resprayrayed the chassy and floorpan, top and bottom. the windscreen was broken so needs replacing, as well as all the rubbers otherwise, pretty much ready to go.

Awesome. I love the old tanks. Cars with real soul.
Looking forward to seeing it progress!

Very cool, Joel. Keep us informed (with lots of pics) of your progress. You dont see many tanks anymore, and even less ranchwagons. Give us the buzz on how you want it to end up....
Just remember, there is lots of room up the front for any size engine you want. A 460, on gas, with a C6, or an AOD, will make for a nice cruiser.

haha, yeah bigger the better, it's got the 332 in her now with 2 spd auto, but I must admit I saw a 460 with a c6 for just over 2, running cndition, in just parts, very tempting!!!
I just would love to say to my boss, oh you've only got the little motor ey.(ve maloo) but it's a big old tank, not for speed. The result, I've got 4 possibilities facto resto, as is survivor standard, ratto, or resto with a few tweaks. I suspect I'll be killed for ratto but I'm very tempted by survivor or tweaked resto. but I'm getting the itch to have a real car. real soon I have always loved survivor, afterall It's why I love fords they just go and go.

The cover blew off yesterday, so decided it was time to start doing something with it, got the rear bumper a bit of a fight to get that on, and some of the trim and got a window in, mounting certainly different to what I've seen before.
Anyway due to lack of funds and my desire to have real car I'm thinking I'll just build it back up as is, just dodge up rubber from clark rubber or something, as nobody seems to do the kits for them anyway. Although I'll consider selling it if I can get my money back for it. Anyway not rejecting any offers for help, haha. Seriously so much f**k chrrrooommme.....

It's funny I think I might have seen this in just cars, and my dad and I were considering having a look at it! Looks good man, good luck with the build

Yeah I'd love to, but if any bodies willing to take it off my hands, I somewhat need to sell a car.

Well I know not alots happened, but I finally got some space cleared. And got the motor and gearbox bolted together, didn't kick over to start with so ask a mate if he had, any sugestion, then him and his dad just came round, gave it a bit of a play around, and bang, it finaally kicked over, after changing my pants well not quite but nearly, my mated dad goes, well it's not not hard to fit is it, lets do it, I was obviously obliged, and we got on with it.
then in went the seats and started giving it a clean out. can't get rubbers, but hoping I can use generic rubbers, out of something second hand. but jeez, is there some space in it or what, fold the back seat flat, and it just miles of room, I'm thinking room may not be as much of an issue as I was concerned about, at this rate it could become my sole daily, although I would be looking into laughing gas for it, and tossing up about getting a vh44, as it's currently fully manual brakes, but just depends how it goes. if anybody has any advice, particulary is anyone knowledgeable on the wiring or linkaging side of things. Also lastly priced up an exhaust system, would you believe nothing off the shelf, twin system for 800, but curious, if anybody has opinions on making your own, e.g. buy in the bends and straight, and weld it up, I'm not overly experienced with welding, but do want to learn.

Hey Mate,
You can buy all the bends and pipe you need from most exhaust shops. It just means a fair bit of messing around under the car to weld it all up. At least you will have lots of straight sections between the bends. Have a look here {DESCRIPTION} for some ideas. You could even use a couple of old e-series systems for donor bits, like mufflers, brackets, etc. If your not too confident on your welding, you could just tack it all together and then take it to a shop and get it welded professionally. Just work out your lowest possible ride height first, then do the exhaust. No point doing it twice. Good luck.

yeah like I have the au exhuast here, I was thinking maybe even go for a 50 dollar day and raid as many as i can sort of thing.
thinking twin 2-2.5" with a muffler each side. then paint it black with the vht paint or see what I can swing with my old boss. I'd rather just practice till i get it, I'm not a fan of not having a hand in every step f this in ways, as you said biggest issues, is crawling under the car for hours.

Mate, even if you just mocked one up using old systems, then took the finished product to an exhaust shop and got them to duplicate it in new pipe, etc. It would save you a fair bit of time, and you can still say you built the prototype....
If it were me, I would get as many old exhaust systems in the size you want, and start cutting and shutting. Practice welding on some scrap bits first, and go from there. Who cars if it has a few extra joins here and there, at least it will work, and be pretty cheap.

haha, it's not a y block but they do have a little info on the fe's.
As long as I can make sure my welds are solid it shouldn't be to big of an issue. grind them back and paint it, as I want the whole underbelly black + red, motor+gearbox is an exception. as don't think I can be bothered pulling them back out to paint them, but see what happens. I'm back to sourcing part issues, the uni doesn't seem to be fitting properly, and nobody knows, what parts I need fluid etc. Slowly I'm meeting blokes that know what there talking about.
