Most insurers are ONLY interested in keeping share holders happy and couldn't care less about the insured. Insurance companies are getting beaters to cut and shut NEW parts so that they don't have to pay extra time to replace the panel as supplied, Centre pillars for example, some insurers want beaters to CUT the panel in half and use bits of it for less time.

Maybe we should start a I hate insurance companies thread... It's a bit of a hot topic at the moment. As for the panel shops they have do to what the person picking up the tab says and for the price quoted. Alot of the later model vehicles now aren't designed to be repaired; the manufacturer considers them a consumer item with a 5 year life span similar to a household appliance.

News flash!!

I am now possession of paperwork to start the process of getting the car approved for repairs, the first major hurdle has been overcome, that being getting a declaration from the assessor to stat the vehicle is suitable for repair, very difficult to get. Now to submit some paperwork to the RTA to have an exemption put in place due to the nature of the vehicle and the damage sustained to get it repaired and rego'd! It's a system that gets fought the entire way but it can be done, paperwork will be submitted on monday. An answer mid week would be expected. Not all doom and gloom just yet!

Lets hope some common-sense prevails....

Would be a damn shame to not be able to fix it. Sort of makes you not want to drive so another f wit doesnt damage it again......

Cheers

If you need to get a quote or just need someone to do the job I can recommend a GOOD panel shop, Point Repair Facility 3 Production Rd, Taren Point. We deal big time with these blokes.

Well, a positive update has arrived!! After a lengthy discussion with ford today, they are putting in writing on a letterhead that the car is number 48 of a total number of 104 built, while they will not state "low production vehicle" I have spoken to the relevant dept at the RTA and they have confirmed this is suitably worded to be accepted as low production!!

So pending my submission, the man i spoke to also confirmed he is the one who does the actual sign off proceedure to have these things happen, I have developed a good raport with him and pending my submission and his agreement that the car is as I say it is, I get the go ahead. a few weeks for the paperwork to process, mid to late jan start work!!

Parts supply will be done via eBay as this creates a sufficient paper trail, should they want one, Already confirmed this is acceptable too.

Thanks for some leads guys I will pm those who are close and can help out over the coming weeks

Yep, and you would if you could :D

Just remind me of how gay AU's are again? And utes? And what happens when the two come together? Where do you end up on the rainbow spectrum of homo?

Other than growling the pot of gold, there is nowhere to put it. Thank god your not there.
