Good to hear, I agree completely with everything you said. Well done.

+1 on the fact that they are a performance workshop first and foremost, as that is there bread and butter it wont get swept to the side AND all of it being in house and aussie is win win win.

So, I dropped some more stuff off today to the builders, and it would seem to have been worth my while.

The main reason was to drop in my heads, sump and girdle and a few other bits.

I also supplied a set of cam bearings I had around, a few gaskets, a new set of lifters and other assorted items. The guys were happy to get them off me.

The kicker,

I'll be getting a timing cover off them for about $100, but the best bit is, cause I supplied some stuff they were going to do, they have offered to slightly deck the heads, then port and CNC match the set of 40P's I dropped in.

Delivery time is still 3 weeks off as yet. The block colour will certainly be a surprise to say the least. My colour instructions were beyond vague and hilarious results should be had, hat they are, not even I know the answer to that one.

So, in short, drop s**t off, supply extra s**t, get some free s**t, heads get a major overhaul FOC, If valve springs need to be changed out, they will advise accordingly, and will use isky items.

Really liked the idea of rebuilt heads no charge. That also includes reseating the valves.

I guess when you can get all the stuff done in house it really opens up opportunities to work with a customer. Now, bear in mind, that I have not yet recieved any product from them so far, but, so far, I am very impressed with how much they want to work with me. I cannot see too many shops that dabble in bits of everything that are not first and foremost engine builders working with a customer the same way.

/ Possitive Rant ------------- OUT.

Hot pink? That'll look fully sick under the carbon fibre bonnet. Plus, it'll piss off the T series guys.

Ok a brief update as not much has happened for a while now.

My engine is still being built, but thats ok, I am happy to wait. I dropped out to see them last week.
They are having issues sourcing a single valve for the 40p heads. Not to big a drama, But, it would appear I had money burning a hole in my pocket and they are looking to do a deal on some heads.

So, I am now going a set of E-Streets, well ported E-Streets. Change out the s**t edelbrock valves and springs and go for a set of Isky springs with some single piece valves. This will complement my RPM II manifold nicely as well.
They have had an issue with a staff member whose family member passed recently, they are a small shop and all felt the punch and therefore closed for an extended period over the break.
But I am very happy with the direction everything is taking. They will also be rebuilding the 220 40P heads and returning them at no charge, so keep or sell... meh, see what happens there as well.

Also going a flat tappet cam setup, yes I know I will need to fool with preloads from time to time, but they setup plenty of these motors and their flat tappet setups consistently make solid power.

Otherwise, all is quiet. They have suggested a month to complete as it sits now, thats all good, but in a month I will be in Melbourne for the F1. s*** myself around in a semi drunk/sober stupor. Perfect.

Oh i did buy a fancy new bag for the impending trip. Who knew Sparco did luggage.

The manifold is ready and is in the baby car ready to be dropped out most likely tomorrow afternoon.

If it's a hydraulic flat tappet cam your going too you want have I adjust preload.
If it's a solid you will be doing it all the time and from having been there before avoid it.
More hassle then it's worth on a street car.

hydraulic flat tappet. BG strongly advised against a solid, it was not even offered as an option. I am just smart enough to know to avoid a solid.

a solid roller would be fine, but probably not necessary

2 reasons I have gone flat tappet.

1. Builders preference, they do this for a living. They assure me they can squeeze a bit more power out of it safely. Most of the work they do with 347's is flat tappet, and as such have a huge variety of profiles on hand to suit varied applications. Also they can do the cam from billet in house as opposed to it being an item they need to bring in.

2. Price, They have the items around and can be much more competitive on price.
