Waggin, The switch to 91 was purely on the ability to get the fuel outside of Sydney. It is damn near impossible to get E85 past Newcastle, and with events scheduled for Grafton, Tamworth and Bathurst, they are beyond my ability to get there, even with 3 25l Jerries, so a sacrifice was made to ensure i was able to attend the events. On a side note, she still made 233rwkw on 91, so it isnt that gutless, but lacks a lot of low and midrange torque due to the cam setup. This should change by Bathurst and i should have much better bottom end punch.

Cheers

Yes it gets a lot of kick back, but i am looking into the fix for that as we speak.

Another update.

The weekend passed i attended Bathurst for rounds 3 and 4 of the NSW Hillclimb championship.

There were some drama's with tyhe big girl in the lead up to the event, but a big Thank You to Joe and the Team at Crescent for the last minute repairs.

The Bathurst event was hosted by the Bathurst Light Car Club and had a huge turnout. At the end of Day one i finished 3rd in class and remained third in championship. For day one we competed in the esses. I found this very enjoyable and the car behaved predictably, due to the relatively low speeds achieved. The hardest part was finding a nice meduim between frying the tyres and stalling. But i managed a low 34 so was happy with that.

Day 2 was the run up mountain straight. This is a very intimidating section of road when taken at speed. I was in group one and we trundled down the hill to find about half of the track covered in FOG. Well for my sighting run i achieved a 64.98 and was relativley happy, but a front end lockup at about 130 coming up to turn 1 sortof took the wind out of my sails.

For the second run i used first 2nd and 3rd gear to turn one and stayed in 2nd for the rest of the climb. The old 351 was spinning away at about 6100rpm for the duration of the run, and i managed to improve to a mid 62. It was at this time a nasty habit became glaringly obvious, and that is a rear steer phenomonom, that is VERY pronunced at speed when lifting on and off the throttle. Due to the fact i needed to drive it home my next and last run was much slower with a high 65.

This still left me third in the class and no change to the championship for me. Over all i finished 50th out of a field of 72 and was very happy with the weekend as a whole.

Some pictures of racing and stories of the tales of the evenings events will follow when i get time to download the pics.

For those interested in the final results, and a look at some of the blindingly quick cars go to facebook and look for CAMS NSW Hillclimb Championship.

Cheers
Brett

I found this posted on the NSW Hillclimb Facebook wall. The link should skip straight to Mando's first Esses run (at 2:39);
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Iw1bzaOe ... age#t=159s
(the next run is at about 5:18, but the sound seems to be out of sync)
