{USERNAME} wrote: James, the brake kit is the only 4 spot kit developed by CMS here in Sydney, and required some other additions. I changed my rims to AU offset, and even went to the effort to fit an AU live axle diff so that they are the same offsett front to rear. They are 329mm rotors with 4piston Skyling GTR calipers, and do work fabulessly. I have also changed the master Cylinder and brake booster to AU Spec, mostly because it is steel and wont crack due to the engine bay temps. Contact Joe at CMS for full info on Sydney 0296006229. Cheers Brett Thanks Brett, was just curious about your brakes as i could't work out what type of calliper it was via the pictures. If its not asking to much could you post some recent pictures of the engine bay for us all to look at? |

Sorry James, i havent got any new pics, but will endeavour to over the next few days.
All right, time for an update. Last week the big girl spent some more time with Crescent Motorsport out in Liverpool for a few issues to be sorted. First off the bat was the removal and replacement of the 3.08 LokRite diff, with some much better suited 3.45 LSD goodness. It also had the cam redialled and was advance 2deg. A quick retune and we are back up to speed. Whilst it made no more HP as a result of the cam change, i now have useable torque from 3ooorpm asd opposed to the 4500rpm it used to come on. This has done wonders for the drivability, to the point that the weekend cruise up to Tamworth resulted in the ability to cruise through the 50k zones in 5th gear. On the Grafton trip i was back in 3rd or even 2nd, and had the pig rooting and rear steering that goes with a LokRite on a manual. Some other issues were also discoverd as a result of the diff change. 1) I had mounted the upper control arm into the wrong spot on the diff and it was causing some of thge rear steer. 2) As a result of 1 listed above the watts linkage bushes were absolutley shagged, resulting in even more rear steer and 3) The LokRite had done iys best to twist one of the axles to the point it was almost snapped. The said axle looks like it is supposed to "screw" into the LokRite centre. So thats the update on the car, now for the update as to racing. The weekend past was round 6 of the NSW hillclimb Championship, kindly run by the Tamworth Sporting Car Club at Oak Burn Park outside of Tamworth. Oak Burn park is actually a go kart track, so the sight of full sized sedans competing was quite a spectacle. Both Sma and i cruised up Very Early Saturday morning and arrived around 1130, incident free. I consumed basically a full tank of E85 for the 440k trip and was pretty happy with that. We attended Scrutineering and both cars passed with flying colours( as is to be expected with road cars in a road car class) and then attended the drivers breifing. Prior to the event Sam had organised a tonne of Web Based reconisannce, namely google earth and Youtube. This meant that we were well prepared for what was to come. So we head out onto the track and got 4 runs in in the alloted time for prectice and came away with the only thing on our mind, There is no grip at all. I managed a high 42 in practice and sam was a low 40, so we are still neck and neck. Of interest is the VX that is currently leading the championsip in our class comducted practice on his "road" tyres and only managed a low 39. Clearly this meant that our cars have the ability to match the VX. So Sunday comes around and again we are up ealry to make our way to the track. Drivers brief conducted, said Hi to some new friends who didnt make practice and we are off for our first run. The difference between Saturday and Sunday was chalk and cheese. My first run was better than my best run in practice and i was pretty happy. Sam being Mr consistancy improved on paractice, but only marginally, but was still a full second quicker than me. By 1140 we had done all 4 runs as required and the table looked like this: 1 VX in the low 36's ( with almost 2K of new tyres) 2 Sam with a low 40 and 3 Me with a 41.2 ( sam was again only half a second faster then me ) We broke for lunch and got another 2 runs in after where Sam managed a high 39 almost equalling the VX on his street tyres. I managed a sub 41 (40.98) and improved overall by 4 seconds from day 1 to the end of racing. Yet again it seems that practice will only make me faster. Of note during the day was the "display" of shear disregard for the semi's we are currently using. The Tyre Warming area is less than 5m in length and those with super sticky tryes were less inclined to bag it up. Sam and i however put on a truly spectacular display for the crowd. It all came about due to the competitor in front of me being an Integra, The SES were maning the marshalling area leading to the start pad and may have mentioned that the front wheel drive took 3 goes to get some smoke, so in true ANDRA fashion, i proceeded to torch the tyres. Sam being right behind me in the queue then did the same. At the end of racing several other competitors came up to us both asking who won the Burn out Comp, with a unanimous for the Blue car, but only just. Attached is a pic from our "Recon" and i will post some other pics and vids in the next few days. Cheers and thanks for reading You do not have the required permissions to view the files attached to this post.

Thanks for posting.
My hill climb activities result in a similar smoke show, then no-traction run. Damn good fun.

A little video of me warming the tyres at Tamworth. Also it should be noted and i hate to say it, but the VX SS we have been competing with is really a machine. It has the advantage of IRS and just bugs out when power is applied. The driver is also a very talented young man. I take nothing away from him or his machine. He has put a lot of time and effort into the car, and i see big things in his future. I mean he has reset every record for our class and is mile sahead, but both Sam and I are narrowing the gap. But one day, i hope to challenge his records, and only more practice at this time will get me anywhere near him. From the time i started Hillclimbing, it was pointed out by a few her that i was beaten by a junior in a laser at my first round. Fair enough, but i am improving and and my overall placings are starting to show that. Any way, enough of that and enjoy the videos. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-6gKRnF9 ... ure=relmfu Brett

Also on the weekend i fitted thge Crane Hi6S ignition module. It came with the factory Ford wiring and couldnt be easier to fit. It now lives in the space created for the battery. Was truly a plug and play item and allows manipulation of the rev limit via 2 pots. It also come with the CRane PS91 coil, which i will be keeping as a spare until the MSD unit fails.
Cheers Brett

Was the hi6 an improvement in running?
With the gas on the truck now a upgrade in ignition could be on the cards. Did you get it from the usual toy shop?
