OK, i have been a bit slack with th eupdates but here we go.
On friday night i finished packing the and thought i would try something different to spread the load and make it easier to pack up after racing, so i removed the racks of my ED and fitted my Pod. This allowed me to remove everything from the cabin for the drive up. What seemed like a good idea wasnt really, as she used an extra 4l per hundred kilometres and handled like a Corvair (if you dont get it, google it) Anyway up bright and early Saturday morning and off to Raymond Terrace we head. No dramas and we arrive in time for the practice session. Unload the car and remove the pod, but dont change to the Federals and just run what ya brung, and hope you brung enough. Attachment: Ringwood.jpg SO haveing never been here before, and anticipating some nasty bits of road i did my first pass in first gear only, and managed a low 38 sec. What was interesting about this place is that you do one run and immediately return for the next run, so off i went again, with another 38 and wheelspin across the top of the track until the loop. The car handled beautifully but was still leaving smoke across the top of the track, So bad was my wheelspin, i had to drive through it after completing the loop. In all we got 3 runs in on the Saturday (which equates to 6 timed passes) and i managed a mid 37 on the Kinforest and Achilles road tryes) Of note was that same changed to his Pirellis and only then bettered my best time on my road tyres. So i wheel it back to the pits and prepare for an evings camping and change the wheels over to my federals for the morning session Sunday. A great evening spent around the fire with some new friends and it was early to bed. Sundays session rolls around and we head up for the drivers briefing where the Clerk of the Course may have mentioned it was a hillclimb and not a burnout comp, so no excessive burnouts, I have no idea why the other competitiors looked toward myself and Sam. Any way it was an eventvul day of racing and i managed 2 low 36 times after 4 runs( remember this means 8 timed passes) and finished 3rd in class. SO my Federals are worth 1.5 seconds over my road tyres on this course, but seem to be no different weather they are hot or cold. Sam had to again change to his Kuhmo's from his Pirellis or he would have been slower than me for only the second time this season. He was just a second quicker than me with a low 35,. 2 things i learnt from this outing, Stock road car suspension is benificial for hill climbing, and a decent seat that holds you in place can make a huge difference to you times. No, i have had the factory leather seat recovered and added additional bolsters, and am in the market for an ADR compliant 4 point harness, it is next on the list.

On a side note,
I also lost the front right indicator, as i mave had had an excursion or 2 off the track near the finish line. This occured as i had ran over my cover after checking the engine in the morning. One of the open wheelers found the said indicator, as it was seen to "fall off: and get some air. The marshalls retrieved the indicator and handed it to the open wheeler owner, who stated he didnt run indicators, but it eventually made its way back to me and was Race Tapped on for the trip home. Cheers Brett

Brett I run the RPM branded 2" ADR complaint harness*. I found in the GT-P (I'm 99% sure the E series run the same) the supplied eye bolts are a perfect fit for the two rear seat bolts. Then you just need to run the shoulder straps back to the parcel shelf. Again in the GT-P there's a plenty strong bulk head there (4 layers of sheet metal thick), add the supplied reinforcing plate, and they haven't gone anywhere, even in my various off track excursions. It passes all club level scrutinising. Best check if state level requirements are different? *this one: http://www.revolutionracegear.com.au/in ... imary&CDO=

I actually have my eye on exactly that harness, just awaiting next payday for the purchase.
Thanks Chris Brett

(not a NSW state round however it's a great event) There's also a club-level run up Mountain Straight, and a State Supersprint at Wakefield Park on the same date. Not sure about Brett, but it's unlikely I'll be competing in any of them (mine is also suffering out of the corners from another worn LSD, plus there are other things I want to do to improve it).

With the 2013 Hillclimb season soon to start and Brett away working, Dave (MRE50L) and I went over on Tuesday evening and pulled the LSD center out of the blue beast so I could 'recondition' the cones and get it working normally again. The cones had totally 'bottomed out' (as expected) so a couple of hours patiently turning them against the bench grinder has resolved that to get more life out of them. Some moderate pre-load shimming during reassembly and it's done. The centre is presently in my freezer (shrinking) and we'll put it back in the car this evening.

Stop f@rt around, and get him to put a truetrac in it.
Honestly worth the money, especially on track as it gives much better mid corner power down. (I forgot about the bill after the first track day with it, knocked an extra 6/10th' off Wakefield first lap out and only got better)

This car had a true-trac, Brett decided he was not man enough to keep it though and has since opted for an LSD, to his credit though, they are a bit/alot of a pig behind a manual cog swapper, the auto box keeps the preload on the diff so you don't get the off throttle slap. It will eventually destroy your extension housing in a manual, that being said, I had one in my EF, that thing loved sideways, the diff was predictable and so long as you were aware of what the car was always doing it was never an issue.

Noted. Haven't heard of anyone in a B/F series with such complaints.
