Not only was the locking centre a pig in normal driving (I had a go and it was horrible), it did actually bend axles. As Dave says, the gearbox was likely to go next.
I agree about the time difference on track though, comparing a shaged cone LSD vs an overtightened one (effectively a minispool) in my EB I was 2.4-sec quicker on SMP's high-speed North layout, despite the understeer it created into corners. Having a working normal LSD will be a good all 'rounder, not just for street use, but also if the track is ever wet. Brett can also learn to feed the power in early, rather than straightening up and then standing on it like he's used to. And Data, are you coming out to play with us this year?

I've spoke to Brett about this before, I was in a car acco May last year (not in the GT thankfully), and I've still not recovered properly (right shoulder and right knee), I can drive normally ok, but racing wise I'm not back to fighting shape. I've tried a hill climb not so long ago before the season stopped last year, and I was way way off the times, and things like changing wheels is a pain.

Glad you're recovering. Kempsey entries closed today, but happy to change wheels for you if you decide to run the Bathurst rounds in a month. We operate as a team and help each other wherever it's needed.
We're keen for some Fords to take a few records off last year's Commodore so when you're fighting fit again it'd be good to see you challenge them with us. As an example, I think your FPV has a better chance of taking the one for Mountain Straight than Brett's EF or my EB.

Ok,
i have been a little quiet on here of late due to being away with work. So here is the round 1 update for the NSW Hillclimb Championship. Over the break of the off season Sam and i purchased some new Kumho Semi's and Sam rebuilt my diff. I also ran with a set of 18x9 rears running 265x40x18's. There were no real other changes to the vehicle. I did however fit a harness. So, i finished the round a full second faster than last year and the car performed flawlessly, returning a 32.45 for the event. Attached is a link to a local news coverage, but it only seems to work occassionally. http://www.nbnnews.com.au/index.php/201 ... climb-win/ Also check out how good it looks with the loaned rear rims. Does that harness have extension straps?

Pretty sure you shouldn't use child seat anchors for harness locations*. They're not made for 40yo children.
I added reinforcing plates and bolted them through the parcel shelf. They haven't moved. *I've got the same harness, but in black, pretty sure it said so in the instructions. I certainly wouldn't trust the little bolt and plastic anchor point.

It is a reinforced plate attachment using grade 8 bolts. There is also a plate I have added below the shelf which should do the job.
