Wow, I'm impressed with the times you ran in the stocker auto ed! On LPG as well! I take it that it was an old school mixer ring or impco setup?

Cheers

Well considering the car itself should weigh a s**t load less then the terrorist, better front end balance and with the 595's it all adds up.

Howdy. Here's a pic of our little Fordmods contingent (inclusive of a visit from Chris, aka data_mine) from here;

The round report which shortcuts to a pic of ED (ignore the name in the caption). I may* have had to sit and wait for the track to be cleaned after this effort and do a second burnout (*in this case may = definitely).

Well, the epicness that is my crash continues, so this weekend I will again be competing in the ED. The bonus, and only bonus, is I can cruise up to Tamworth on LPG, compete on Petrol and then cruise back on LPG, which will make for a cheap weekend racing.

I will advise of the results upon my return.

Cheers
Brett

Don't ask, lets put it this way, My Panel Beater said that after its finished, he doesn't think we can be friends anymore. He hates the car and his life at the moment.

Does that answer your question.

I'm going to prod you into an update Brett.
Here's a pic of ED at Tamworth before you flat-spotted my front Federals and crossed the line in reverse gear.
Image

Ignore the obvious understeer on this run, Brett did figure out the quick way around (let's just say that 'slow-in, fast-out' still works in an underpowered auto with an open diff). Comparing ED's best time this year with the blue beast last year is interesting. There's less in it than you may think, and horsepower is not the solution that it would be on a drag strip.

Over to you Brett...

Meanwhile here's my update;

Alright, yes I have been a little slack.

OK, So the cruise up and back went well, and those big a** spotties were worth the effort on the trip home. but to th racing.

So using only an open centre diff, Auto ED 6 pack here is how things stacked up.

On the Saturday Practice, I went out on only the stock road tyres and managed a 44 something. It was wild and woolly, even with only 92rwkw, as the track was fairly slippery. I did 2 runs and called it quits, having got a feel and just wandered around catching up with mates.

Come Sunday and race and the ED had a little extra help. Slipped on Sams 595RSR's and my ever faithful Street ET's on the rear. It doesn't have a lot of power but get the weight of and it would light up which ever tyre was dangling, so I figured the ET's should help.

First run out and it was a 44 something and same with the second. By the third run a mate from Tamworth was up and I figured I would put on a little show.

So, neutral bombed it to get the ET smoking( notice I said ET and not ET's, unreal one wheel peel) and put some heat into the tyre. Away I go, now it was a pretty smooth run with lots of slow in fast out but on the chicane before the finish line I looped it with the timing lights fast approaching the drivers door. Came to a complete stop metres from the finish line facing the wrong way, so, slipped in into reverse and score a 46.
At this time something twigged and I thought that was only 2 secs slower coming to a complete stop, so it should have been a good time. Went out one last time and smashed out a smooth 42. 2 secs quicker than my best time on the day.

Where it gets interesting is that the 260rwkw manual V8 is only 1.6 sec faster ona track that is considered a hp track.

Yes I have improved great amounts in my skill, and I am using all of what I have to the best of my ability, now to get the Blue car back and put those lessons into practice.

I still wasn't the slowest at the event, and I had the least amount of HP, and definitely the smallest budget for the weekend.

At this time in the championship, I have competed in 5 rounds. 2 in the blue car, one in sams silver EB and 2 in the ED. I want the EF back ASAP, as the ED is starting to show it up.

Cheers and thanks for reading.

Brett
