Let me tell you it feels great, and you would be baring up every time you went to overtake! Cheers ToranaGuy the problem is now, i dont open it as up much, as when i do its crazy, in a cool but scary way... otherwise its going great, a bit heavy on fuel compared to before, but who cares when you got aprox 300+ engine kw's.... anyway i brought the car a xmas gift... a turbo beanie to help with searing engine bay heat.. Beanie looks the goods. How does it really go. Can you touch it after the engine warms up? Hows the rear tyre holding up...lol??
Cheers Daz

i just took the car for a run, and the there is about 30% less heat in the engine bay..
after a good run i can now put my hand on the bonnet without having to remove my hand after 2 seconds so i dont get burnt.. actually i can put my hand on the beanie and hold it there for about 5 seconds before the heat is to much.. the only thing im worried about is if the heat held in the turbine housing is going to have an effect on the oil in the core after shutdown?? |

I've read there is a greater chance of the oil cooking inside the centre and coking up on the inside restricting oil flow.
I was going to get one but there isnt that much that can melt in my engine bay so I've decided against it just in case. |

Maybe the ol kitchen pot heatshield might have been the go with heatshield matting around the inside?
With the acc and cruise cables see if you cant pull them up around the back of the brake booster, thats where I have mine. |

yep it turns out the beanie still dont stop the heat, while it stops the heat from the housing, it seems to just create more heat on the manifold, dump pipe and wastegate..
so i still have problems with radiant heat that appears to be boiling brake fluid in the master cyl, melting wiring covering and vacuum hoses.. took the car for a run to the coast last night to find the heat had melted the wastegate vac line, resulting in a massive over boost.. lucky for me i have the boost cut on the ecu set to 16psi.. |

Do you have a bonnet vent at the back of the bonnet? Turbo torana's had lots of trouble killing starter motors & boiling brake fluid until the bonnets had vents installed. They also had trouble with fuel atomizing in the line before the carby too.....
Cheers ToranaGuy

Sounds like an awful lot of heat. My cars have never boiled brake fluid and Ive had a couple.
That ceramic coating helped a fair bit I think but I'd looking into doing some more shielding before paying for it again. Vents couldnt hurt either but suck to put in. Maybe remove some of the rubber bonnet seal at the back to see if its a quick fix. |

no vents in the bonnet, ive spaced up the rear about 5mm but need longer bolts to go more.
the rear firewall/bonnet seal has been removed.. the main issue i think is the rear of the turbine housing and dump pipe is only 2 1/2" away from the master cyl base and brake lines.. every little bit helps, ill just keep wrapping and heat shielding things ..... |

I would have thought that much of an opening would have helped a lot with the temps. Time to make a heat shield for the master cylinder? Cheers ToranaGuy
