Nice work!

Why the auto conversion? To aim for more power?

Cheers

no not so much more power.
im at the limit of the clutch thats in it now, if i upgrade the clutch again to something better it will destroy the box for sure.. i think the costs of a decent box like a tko or t56 and another clutch would be more than a decent auto and stally..
plus i think a faster 1/4 is to be had with an auto..

Good idea troy. You'll get better times plus it'll be more reliable than the t5. Plus its a lot cheaper than the tko500. I checked the price on one from mal Wood recently and they told me around $3000+ with the bellhousing. What auto you going for? C4 with stall? Not the btr...?

I have a stand alone 5.0 TCM here if you choose to go auto.
We can pull that out and chop the wiring as required.

That's a fair consideration there Troyman, and with me, if I get to increase the power in my EB Ghia some more, and say go boosted, I will be making sure I keep under the limits of the T5....

Could a hotted up BTR be setup to be full manual shift? Might be a compromise?

Cheers

Yup. Troyman - you need the BA SSS shift conversion for the BTR. But others will still call you soft for losing the 3rd pedal :P

that might be the way to go?
otherwise ill have to rewire the factory ecu back in to use the auto part of the ecu and run the ems as piggyback..

first off ill do some enquiring into the costs of the box, stall converter and a few bits and pieces..

Theres a few people currently working on stand alone trans controllers.
full manual control.

that would be the easiest way to go :P

Making some mount plates up to mount at the rear of the rocker cover, will show you Friday night.

Can I borrow that EF rocker cover for a week or 2?

Possibly get a couple of angle brackets welded to a spare rocker cover and mount them just about the VCT solenoid?

yea i can bring the ef rocker cover on friday..

i dont really think there is enough room to mount the coil pack at the rear of my rocker cover due to the intake pipe.. i would rather keep it as far away from the turbo heat as possible

ill have a look, but im doubtfull it will fit though, i tried to mount it between the dip stick and water neck on top of the fuel rail but it touched the bonnet..

otherwise i could mount it around the engine mount like factory ef but its not the best spot to get to..

Put it in the factory spot. It's not like they die every 5 minutes.
