The good ol granny tranny, glad to see it finally got ya to where you wanted to be, in the 12 sec bracket

I gotta be honest, you were stripping T5's there or had issues with em and was wondering when you were gonna go to the dark side

the grany trany is fine with a few minor mods to keep line pressure up to scratch..
the t5 was holding up fine, it was the clutches that couldn handle the power..

Good stuff. With some grip low 12's would be on the cards.

Very nice car mate, was following it when you were supercharged.

I understand the reasons you've gone Auto ...but how did you find the NPC flywheel & 10.5" clutch overall, grip & pedal feel-wise?

thanks guys,

mark,
the npc clutch and 10,5" flywheel was really good, the feel was only a touch heavier than std.
the problem i had was, i went with an organic clutch plate to try keep the t5 alive, anything harsher like ceramic button would have killed the t5 i think.
so after a bit of abuse the heat would build up and the clutch couldnt hold the power, the clutch was rated to hold 280rwkw and i was around the 270rwkw, so it was pushing it to the limit of what the organic clutch could take.

Troyman,

Would a cushioned button/puck clutch been a compromise to consider, or would it still be too harsh on the poor T5?

Cheers

yea a cushion button would have been the next up grade, the way it was the clutch was the fuse, upgrade the clutch then the box becomes the fuse..lol

but so far im happy with the auto actually, sydney traffic is s**t on day to day driving i only average 26 kmh. so auto is a luxury :) the way it was in traffic as a manual was s**t me, so with the auto its nice and cruisey with more than enough go to leave most modded street cars behind,
the only set backs so far are the exhaust drones a bit now and because the load points have changed in the ecu its a bit thursty at the moment.. currently fine tuning closed loop in the ecu to help with fuel usage...
