went to wsid last night had a good night must have been 200+ cars with nearly an hour between runs, still running 12's. :D

i tried dissabling the bbm to see the differences over the 1/4, with the bbm disconnected / cable tied on short runners..
ran a 13.4 with really poor 2.5 60 foot.
re connected the bbm and tried risking a hard stall up, lol threw the box into limp home mode and locked in 3rd gear it still ran a 15.1@73mph had to back it off half way as i didnt want to kill the box..

Get a J3 or Shiftkits LHM override to override the LHM :)

Troyman,

Would a cushioned button/puck clutch been a compromise to consider, or would it still be too harsh on the poor T5?

Cheers

yea a cushion button would have been the next up grade, the way it was the clutch was the fuse, upgrade the clutch then the box becomes the fuse..lol

That kinda makes me feel a bit better about choosing a cushion button for mine..

i have got a shiftkits.com lhm module but i dont like what it does to the shifts,
with the module fitted it holds first gear to long and then changes to 2nd,3rd and 4th straight away, i might contact him and see if that is a result from the module or something else...so i may still use it and go with a full manual shift module aswell???

What if you use a setup like a transbrake switch to run the LHM when you want to stall it up and when you take off turn the module off so it shifts properly?
Would just take a normally open push button inthe 12V supply line.

Odd. Are you running an EL ECU, the ED ECU or an EA/EB1 TCM?

With a J3 on the EL ECU you can just change the RPM limit that LHM kicks in. Can also change the line pressure for snap hard shifts at >80% throttle and milder shifts at part throttle.

im running a eb2 ecu with the ems as piggyback,
i even tried a el ecu yesterday but same issue with going limp, lol, the thing i found with the el ecu is at full throttle the gear changes are after bouncing the rev limiter where the eb ecu changes perfect at 5300rpm..
with the j3 chip are the trans shift points changable? or are just reliant on diff ratio and road speed??
im running a 3.45 diff ratio and with the el ecu from a gli with 3.08 ratio= 5800 gear change
and the eb ecu was from a ghia with 3.23 ratio= 5300 gear change

They are editable, but choosing the right base bin (to suit the diff ratio and speedo gear you have -- are they matching?) should solve that problem as long as the shifts are fast enough. I find mine can hit the limiter if it breaks traction (bad surface) in the top end before it shifts.

yea i have the right speedo gear to suit the 3.45 ratio.

the other thing i noticed is the el ecu makes the low rpm shifts sloppy but good up top.
where the eb ecu makes the shifts firmer down low and much the same as the el ecu up top except for the shift points..

so maybe a j3 is the answer??

Either that a or a wolf V500.

J3 might be a little more cost effective.

Do you race with the box in power or economy? I recall my EB used to limiter bash when it was on power mode but in economy it was fine. That was an EB2 ECU, electronic shift kit and 3.45 diff gears.

with the eb ecu, i race it in economy,(get better times) even on power it dont hit the limiter..
the el ecu hits the limiter in both normal and economy modes.. just does it less in economy....

done a boring interior mod the other day  , nothing special, probably a mod thats done to near every box car..lol
i fitted a ef gear knob i had laying around, except instead of making a longer centre rod and fit the ef knob to the eb shift, i fitted the whole ef shift arm and knob..
this way the shift is shorter and looks a bit neater...

today could have been the end for the ed..
i had the turbo oil return hose fail dumping oil over the turbo manifold, this resulted in epic amounts of smoke and almost set fire to the engine bay..
so the silicon return line is burnt, the turbo outlet silicon joiner is burnt..
looks like i have still got serious heat issues...lol
now the car is off the road untill tuesday..
