welded inside aswell

a clean up with a wire wheel, painted the pan and fitted the sender..
Image

did the trans service my self, all up including fluid and service kit was $60..
there was a bit of black sludge in the pan which looks like clutch and band material?
otherwise i guess its not to bad for a box that came out of a 400,000km car..
notice there was no magnets in the pan, thats strange??

all done and the new pan is fitted.. :D

there is a small hole in the firewall near the trans tunnel just below the heater box..this hole is used for the boost gauge line aswell..

you should have seen the box before i fitted it, the car it came out off had many years of oil build up from leaky rocker cover and sump, it looked like a oily fluffy turd...lol

did a few small mods during the week, the first was move/ change the angle of the temp gauge. i had it flush mounted to the clock facia but when sitting in the drivers seat it wasnt really viewable.
so i used some 2" pvc pipe mounted it at an angle in the facia, painted it to match and done..

the 2nd mod was a bit more usefull..
when i recently changed the brake master cyl, when i push the brake pedal the firewall actually had a bit of flex to it.
i have seen a few e series with home made brackets from the shock tower to the master cyl to stop that flex, well i decided to make one up and i found it has made a very slight improvement in brake responce when brakes are firmly pushed and there is no more firewall movement..
i made the brace from a old valiant guard brace.. :D

Nice idea on the brake master bracket Troy!

Early commodores had these as the firewall had a lot more flex than those in our Eseries car's. I might have to see if I can track down a bracket & fit one to my car's, I can feel the firewall flex when the peddle is jumped on hard in emergency situations....

Cheers
