Yeah Ash Im f**k hopeless with cars. The disease is well and truely ingrained.
It will be a nice slow casual run back along the freeway in the Mav , the old man is coming with me and riding spotter. I think it will come out pretty good. It will never be a Clevo but for what its costing and the lack of hassles to sort it all out Im a happy boy. Huge thanks to Phill (taxi5l) for putting it all in place for this to happen!

It shows how he did the reflector and I think that it is the case in NSW as well, rear reflector is needed.

Just how many idiot signs do you have left for sale?.... |

EVL098 wrote: Well things have slowed down on the ute lately. Basically in the last month or so all I have done was fit some new caster rod bushes as the originals were slightly beyond pole axed , fitted new sway bar link rod bushes and new outer tie rod ends. Then put some new 225/50 16 Falkens on the front. It now has all matching , really good quality tyres. Burnouts have been put on the no go list without changing wheels now days! My lovely much better half bought me a set of these as one of my anniversary pressies. Now Im not a big fan of Altezza lights normally but I think because these are not the plain garden variety ones or the blinged up chrome ones is the reason I actually like them. They are just a plain smoked plastic and look really good against the white. Went from looking like this To like this They are actually a very good fit and so far are not leaking. Very unusual for an aftermarket part. Im very happy with the look. It works on the white I think but dunno what it would look like on a darker colour. Just another pic I went to remove the pensioner equipped extar reflectors at the same time to find they are actually a Ford factory fitted item with holes pressed into the rear quarters for them to clip into. So they will be staying for a while until I repaint when I will weld the holes up then. The reflectors look s**t but much better then some plain open holes would look. That's old news! but..... This is new news.... Quote: had well and truely decided what I was going to do about a new powerplant for the ute and had started to organise things. At the same time fate interviened. Unfortunately taxi5l had a moment in his NC Fairy which ended in the lane being a write off as we all know. Well after a couple of messages myself and taxi worked out that I had a couple of parts and some cash he could use and that he had a car that I could use. So a deal was struck and I am heading up to Newcastle in a couple of weekends to pick up the Fairy and trailer it home. The plan is to strip the running gear from the Fairy and slip it all into the ute. So unfortunately all the comments I have made about automatics being for poofs who cant drive will have to be retracted as for starters Im just going to put the auto and everything in. The T5 in the ute , the 3.27 LSD and bits of the Fairly will be coming up for sale. If anyone wants anything PM me and we will see what we can work out. Very much looking forward to coming out the other side with a XF ute with an injected 5.0 in it! Good score matey!!!!

Yeah it does need red reflectors in it to make them legal.
But the XH rear bar that I will be fitting when I paint it has the reflectors already in it so they can be disposed of then.

Well look what made its way home today........................
After a rather slow start to the morning (as it was bloody freezing here and the electric blanket was on high in bed ) I finally got my s**t together and got up and ready to take off up to Newy. SHower , coffee , breakfast , in to the Mav and go. Well that was the plan. I just didnt add "tend to flat battery in Mav" as I wasnt planning on it. Gotta tell ya clutch starting a 2 tonne 4b with a car trailer on it by yourself aint the easiest thing to achieve! Had a fairly uneventfull run up the freeway couple of heavy bouts of rain but nothing major , got to Phills work had a chat , did the deal , got loaded up and took off. Well with the run of luck with all things automotive connected lately I have been having lately I was convinced this is where it would all fall apart. I was expecting the car to fall off the trailer , the Maverick blow up , or quite possibly the whole shooting match to roll over and explode in a ball of flames. The best senario in negativity I could come up with was the dodgy hire trailer would sway like a snake in a hurry for its next feed and the Mav would overheat to buggery so I would be restricted to 60km/h for the whole trip home. Glad to report that none of it happened!!!!!!! The worst bit that happened was heavy rain all the way back to the M2. The trailer pulled straight as a die and the Mav stormed home doing 90-100km/h the whole way. Had some fun on Pennant hills road in the traffic. The look on motorists faces as the dirty old white 4x4 with a car trailer and a big Fairlane on it wheelspins all the way through first and half of second cause it cant get traction on the wet road is priceless! Got the Fairy home , unloaded and the trailer returned. Put it up in the driveway ready to clean up tomorrow to put it out the back and my olds rocked up. Well I decided that seeing as though there was someone here to use the camera Id better test out the driveline , just to make sure it was working right. Seems to be working ok for me! I reckon this will go quite lovely in the ute! Most Mums would crack the wobblys about such stupid behaviour , as my old man was taking pictures Mum was standing in the driveway , cracking up laughing and cheering me on and then ringing my bro up to tell her what was going on and asking him when the Burnouts are being done at his place so she can come up to watch! I cant say enough positive things about Phill with this whole deal. He gave me a sensational deal on the car , organised everything to be picked up at a time when I could get there easily , loaded the car on and strapped it down for me as he has a lot more experience with car trailers then me. He even gave me a call a while ago to make sure I got home ok with it!!!! Thanks mate I cant thank you enough. Phill is one of the few good people about now days. The ute will come off the road July 16 and providing I have got the other jobs done on the missus's 4x4 that need doing by then the big strip down and swap over will begin!

Ok I need some help sorting a issue out here. The issue is getting a speed signal to the auto box.
I would like to keep the ZL star wars dash in the ute but need to get speed signal to the auto computer controler for the gear changes. Is there any way of doing this just by using the gearbox speed sensor or does it have to come from the cluster? Having a box built to convert the E series speedo out put to the XF dash is the easy bit. I just need to get the signal to the box. Or will I have to track down a C4 auto and run that?
