Great stuff indeed. My missus just popped her head around the door and dribbled something sarcastic about "Ford land" and pranced off happy with her quip.

Well its time to let the cat out of the bag. A few members have known what I have been up to and sorting out for the last couple of days and its all worked out now and the deal was done this afternoon.
Poor Donna suffers so much having me as an other half. Her blood deserves bottling!
This arvo I left a deposit on this.

Why did I buy another bloody ute you may ask.....................
Because it contains this
Image

351 cubes or 5.8 litres of Cleveland Goodness running on straight LPG!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Figured out that if I going to engineer a car there wasnt much point in doing all the work and having a little motor , may as well go the big boy and be done with it.
The grey ute is actually a March 81 XD that has had all pretty much new XF sheetmetal fitted to it.
It has a couple of rust spots that could do with some attention and due to it being stolen and recovered back in 1997 it is actually on the NSW repairable write off register. Its all been lowered with pretty much new suspension in it from what I can see as well. After a lot of checking it was written off due to minor panel and paint damage and thats it. It has been registered in Victoria since until December 2007 when it was cancelled. I have checked up on it all and its not an issue to blue slip it in NSW and reregister it but at the end of the day its not my white ute which I love immensley.
The plan is for the Clevo C4 and gas system to be removed and put in my ute and for me to remove the XH rear bar and the Fairmont Ghia door trims for my ute , then either wreck the car out or sell it as a roller. The hard lid on the grey ute will either be sold seperately or if someone wants to buy the complete ute as a roller it will stay with that. It wont be going on to my ute as I hate the things. I reckon they make a ute about as useful as a box trailer.
So now all the gear I have here for the injected Windsor will be sold off or something and I shall comence on this setup. I pick the ute up sometime after next weekend as the guy Im buying it from has to remove the top loader from it and I have to clean some stuff up around here to make room for it.
Basically I can either sell the grey ute off as a rolling body with everything intact including the power windows etc but it will have my door trims and centre console in it and my steering wheel , I could sell the ute as a roller with all the gear I have here for the Windsor conversion or I could also include the running gear out of the white ute (4.1 crossflow , T5 and 2.92 drum brake diff) , or brake the grey ute up.
Would really prefer to sell it whole as I cant be stuffed rooting around breaking it up and waiting for people to pick up parts that never show and having parts lying around everywhere.
If anyone is interested in the grey ute as a whole with any of the combinations listed above PM me and we can work something out.

Let the funs and games begin , Im really looking forward to this!

I thought it may find a new home quite quickly.

You going to do anything to the motor? Or simply unbolt and bolt it in. Did the guy say what had been done to it if anything?

Just gunna chuck it in at first mate and see what it goes like.
Will eventually slip in a bigger stick and get a set of closed chamber heads for it and a 2500 stall.
It already has extractors and a twin system so thats one issue out of the way.
It is a F100 motor and from what I have figured out over the years they are a pillow block so are a bit stronger through the webbing and so forth.
Depending on what era F truck motor it is it might actually hold a few surprises , wont know how deep to start looking until I get it home and work out the casting marks and s**t.

Cheers mate. Come up and buy the grey one off me. Yeah it needs work but I have a multitude of drivelines available for it and it would make a good project.

If the offer was right I might even be able to be talked into letting go of the white one and me doing the grey one myself............................................

I was told not to run close chambers on straight LPG. Was told it would go bang in a bad way real quick.

One of the main arguements for this is overheating (with gas engines running hotter) - for a daily driven engine it is probably better to keep the open chamber heads. I have seen closed chambers used without problems though as long as the cooling system is up to scratch.

Well i will be very interested if you can stuff another V8 in there for me :)

I have just bought a fixer uppa house and a ute would be handy...might as well have a nice V8 sound when going to the dump.

Would you have enough parts to get it going once your finished with it?

I would have enough bits kicking around here to get it 90% of the way there.

Well not a huge amount to report on yet.
Found an XG letterbox grille going cheap so grabbed that and slipped it on. Bonus was that it was actually white!
Just spoke with the guy Im buying the grey ute off and its coming home this weekend! Really looking forward to that.
So this week I have to finish stripping the motor out of the fairlane and the diff and send the body to another place and tidy up a bit to make some space to get the ute in.
Hopefully by Tuesday arvo seeing as though I have a couple of days off coming up I will be well into removing a Clevo and a LPG system and getting ready to start swapping things over!

Ok well things are officially happening!!!!
A guy contacted me today who wanted the diff out of the Fairlane and in discussion about picking it up it was mentioned that I was selling the Windsor now.
A little bit later he got back to me and it turns out his Dad is going to buy the Windsor so on Saturday morning they are organising a car trailer and coming over to pick up the Fairlane. If I do the towing on the Mav and help with loading and unloading they will supply the trailer and help to pick up the ute.
SCORE all around. So the ute is getting picked up lunchtime Saturday!

Will dig more into it and make a final decision once I get it here but there is something niggling in my mind to put my energy into putting the grey ute on the road as the project and sell the white one.
Dunno what it is making me think that way but its a thought that keeps bouncing around.
I have been doing a hell of a lot of checking up on the whole repairable write off issue and seeing as though it was only paint and panel when it was stolen there is no drama with getting it reregistered and reinsured.
Only time and checking will tell I spose...................
