All good mate. I was actually saying to the missus on the way back home how funny it would of turned out if you had come along.
I reckon we could of sold tickets to watch it!

Just a quick pic of how the old girl was looking as of an hour or so ago.

Image

Its come a bit of a way in a few short weeks!
Certainly looks different to what it was the day I picked it up.

Image

I thought it was a nice unit then. Im deadset chuffed now!

Im slowly starting to get bits for the LPG conversion together. Im picking up a tank tomorrow afternoon. Have a convertor so I just need to locate a filler , an under floor bracket to suit the tank and a mixer. I will get new lockoff valves etc.
The diff is the next victim on the agenda. Then I will start on a motor. The motor is going to take about 12 months until it is built and put in but it will be worth the wait.
I need to have a chat to the engineer during the week to get the green light so I wont let the cat out of the bag in case it falls over but it will be different and somewhat old school.
The only hint I give is does anyone know of a V8 C4 auto available anywhere?

Yeah Ill have to head off to the gas joint. Dunno what suppliers we have down this way.
They only seem to be fitters available that are not really interested in helping you out.
Is there any up your way? I also need to find a fitter that is happy to use my gear and to fill out some paperwork when the time comes.
If there is someone up there that will help me out I might have to come for a drive and a little sleep over in Newy.........................is the Crazy Horse still open up there

Thats good to know about the 12 month rule. It might all happen sooner then I was planning.
To be able to flickthe fuel tank would help my plans along quite well.

Well Ash I think you may just have sussed it out. Yeah your pretty close.
Im looking at building a Boss 302 clone for it.
Have seen the manifold and yes yes yes I want it but just too many dollars at this time.
Im going to kick myself hard at a later date but its just not in the budget at the moment.

Been having a think about this today and Im going to hatch off what in my opinion will be a fairly interesting exercise and a bit of fun to just keep things interesting.
In my years of playing with cars I have just ripped everything out that wasnt in the aid of performance and fitted hipo or at least quicker parts.
I have never actually develloped what I have and worked out what actually achieves what in the performance world.
Now the plan further down the track is to have a big motor , no doubts about that but for the moment Im going to start things on a different tact.
On the 6th of May Im going to head down to WSID with the boys and get a few runs in in the ute to get a baseline of its lack of performance exactly as it sits.
The I will start changing one thing at a time and attend another meet to see what works , what doesnt and what is a worthwhile mod. A bit of a learning experience.
I reckon by going down this path I will learn moreof the car as a total package and will be able to use gathered info in the future as a yard stick to further mods.
It may also be good to other members to see what is worthwhile doing for a value performance increase and whats not. Also I will try and keep a log of fuel economy figures to see how much each thing I do changes them and the overall cost of owning the ute. It will be good to see what is a good bang for your buck mod. As in cost to do the mod but also the ongoing costs versus the performance increase.
Is anyone interested in seeing this kind of info?
Im thinking of to start running the ute with its 2.92 single spinner and then do the 3.27 LSD conversion and run it again to see what difference it made.
Then I will progress onto things and build up to the big changeover.
What do you all reckon?

Good plan, Great idea.
The diff will result in the biggest increase in performance, and wont overly hurt the economy.
Keep me advised as i have been down this path previously with a 4.1XD. I have a fair idea of what works and what doesnt. Good luck
Brett

Apparantly its $50 to race. So even if I was to go once a fortnight or once a month it would be not too expensive entertainment wise , plus it keeps the build interesting.
I have a habit of going balls and all on a car , doing everything , getting bored with it , selling up and starting again. Yeah I have wasted a lot of bucks over the years.
Hopefully doing it this way will actually keep it interesting and save me money in the long run.
It also keeps things open for different ways to achieve performance then I would usualy go for.
Looking forward to it actually.
I reckon by lowering it with the stiffer suspension would have affected 60 foot times but that low it would not be worth considering a this point in time.
At the moment if I can get it down the strip in under 25 seconds I reckon I will be doing well.
Its first run will be exactly as it was in the afternoon when I drove it home from work and how it will be when I drive it back in the morning.

Good plan Matt, I hope to see the ute around for a while. Getting dizzy at the amount of cars you are going through :)
