Thanks for the pic dude. I will give the wheels a really good clean & inspection sometime soon, when the weather is good enough to do it. Damn rain!

Cheers

Been pulling a few bits off the parts car tonight, as i need to get the drivers door, along with my spare bonnet & spare drivers front panel off to the panel shop in the morning, before i go to work.

Had a look under the parts car & felt how the diff was operating, nice & smooth, no slop at all, no clunks, both wheels spinning like they should. It drove perfect, so i didn't expect to find any issues at all.

Found it has Pedders comfort gas rear shocks(white) & red low (or are they SL?) springs too. Pedders red front struts, but unsure of what springs they are.

I also found this under there....

That looks like a very, very very recent reco 4spd trans. That would explain why it was shifting as good as you will ever get a 4spd borg warner in a falcon to shift. With the steering rack being so good to, the "bomb" was actually a pleasure to drive, lol!

Cheers

Started the Eb Ghia this morning, and while warming up it went rattle, clunk & died. Won't run. Probably done either the aux shaft or camshaft. Glad i have a spare engine, if the weather is good on sunday, i will get it out of the parts car & hopefully installed in my Eb Ghia, so i can finally get the damn thing to the panel shop!

It's like it's cursed or something atm! Maybe it knows I'm still not 100% on keeping it & keeping or selling the Xr8, but i do prefer the sound of a v8....

Cheers

the problem is we own 20-ish year old cars. this s**t is bound to happen. but i'd rather spend money on my EB or EA or my Valiant than upgrade. old cars. more character

Newer cars, less issues.

New cars are reliable but have no character. Older cars have some soul. Character

My sister & her b/f have had no end of troubles with their new 2010 SS & focus! More trouble than my EB has given me in the last year, until this issue, which isn't so bad. I wonder if i can do the swap in about 4hrs or so, I can do a hack job of the rad support to get the parts car engine out quickly, it's my car that will take some more effort.

Here's hoping the weather is good tomorrow!

Cheers

Weather is good and the engine is almost ready to remove from the parts car. Owen come down to give me a hand, and all the crap is removed, ready for the engine & auto to come out. Need to get some lunch & duck off to work to pick up some gaskits that i thought i had in the shed, but don't.

So far so good. Might actually get the engine swapped & running. Ford can't supply the shim for the clutch fork in time, but i have 2 on order, nice & cheap at trade price. If my shim for the clutch fork has fallen out again, I'll make a replacement for now, i have enough steel bar lying around to do the job.

Off to work & lunch... then back into it.

Cheers

Yeah, when we removed the rocker cover to clear the firewall on the way out!

How's this for effort. Remembering the engine did this @ idle! Broke 3 inlet rocker arms completely off, and the 4th broke & lost it's lifter. No wonder i had spark, fuel & compression, but no go. I had only 2 inlet valves opening properly!

Anyway, I'm on a 10min break atm, engine + 5spd removed from the Eb Ghia, and now i need to make room in the front of my shed for both engines & gearboxes. I might swap the welsh plugs on the working engine tonight, but i have to wait until tuesday for a new shim for the clutch fork, so i might not fit them back into the car just yet.

Will post up some pics later.

Cheers

ToranaGuy
