I have wondered if they were different or if it was only up the front where the power steer & coolant lines are bolted to it.

Having a rough look at the drivers side of the sub frame, i can't pick a difference in the EB's. Shaped the same. I need to get under the car & have a proper look tho. I know the actual mounts are very different, but i think the bolt holes were in the same position on the sub frame.

I hope the difference is just up the front, cause i can drill some holes to mount the v8 bits easy enough. Otherwise i might have to get a v8 sub frame from the wreckers.

Cheers

I had the pleasure of seeing my old EB Fairmont (6) 2 years after I sold it, with a dirty great stinkin 347 on LPG in it. No Change of Subframe apparently.

Other than holes to mount the v8 bits up the front i guess? That's good news for me. Not so good news i have to change the sub frame, but good news is i have one that i can use, so i don't have to spend more $$ on this car just yet.

Cheers

Im going to be trying AU V8 hoses on my XF - they are one piece without the joiner hose on the frame. Interesting times ;)

There's a thought. It will be interesting, I'd love to know if it works, keep me posted! I'm just going to reuse what i have, all the hoses are fairly new, so should be right after swapping the sub frame over.

I can get new hoses at staff price at repco, but why spend what I don't need to?

Cheers

The AU hoses are much affordable. I think the only issue is that they require thermo's ;)

That would be an issue with my Xr8, it still has a prefect working clutch fan, so for the moment I won't be changing that. In my g/f's Xr8, it had thermos, so i might keep that in mind, as i think it will need a new bottom hose, due to being bent from the accident.

For you, it's motorvation (lol) to fit thermos. They are well worth it if you can afford it. I did the conversion on my EB Ghia I6, and never looked back!

Cheers

I did the conversion in my EB 7 years ago - using a BMW Dual temp thermo switch. Guess which switch BPT use now!!!
... so Im doing it again on the XF. have two sets of EL fans in case somethings up, and the switch (costs $20 from BMW second hand). Nice to have.

Now just need to make sure that the EL radiator is going in the way I want, and that I still have room for the AC and battery etc. Thank god ford changed the overflow on the BA to be smaller!

otherwise Id have no room in the bay

That BMW switch sounds interesting. Got any pics or part numbers?

That's the only issue i have with my conversion in the EB Ghia, the craig davis switch has a stupid probe that is a b**ch to seal up. It's fine once you seal it up. I'd rather a small metal pipe in the top hose that i can screw a thermo switch into. For now, too many other things so what ain't broke isn't getting fixed just yet.

Cheers

Been buzzing around in the Mighty boy. O how i miss fuel injection! Carbies & manual chokes suck big time. I did a little work on the boy last night after work, lubed up the bonnet release mech & fixed up an alignment issue with the headlights, they point much better now. I still can't wait to do a H4 conversion on it, when funds are available!

Also ordered a couple little rubber bits i need so i can put my painted rocker covers on my 253 in the panel van. Then i have some room to prep & paint something else. Also managed to sell another couple of small bits off the Silver EB2 Ghia I'm wrecking, which is always cool.

Still lots of parts to sell, and a few more items i need to remove from it.

Cheers

lol a H4 conversion must be such a big thing when you have sealed beams originally. like my dad and his VJ Charger
Me: "hey Dad, you should upgrade the headlights. The original ones are like candles"
My Dad: "I did, i upgraded to H4's"
Me: "Ooooooooo, f**k look out!"

LOL. i laughed. i'm trying to get him to put in some 4000k white globes

Do a HID conversion Jay. would look mad

A HID conversion would be great, but it's way out of budget man. I don't have that sort of money to spend on headlights atm. Maybe one day! A proper conversion to H4's will cost me a bit, as i have to redo the headlight loom to fit the globes i want to run, and i will need to upgrade the alternator a bit i think.... Not that there is much room to do that.

Cheers

The BMW Switch is a 3 pin switch, dual temp. I'll get pics in a few days (when I find it again LOL).

Ran one in my EB - first time tapped into the back of the water pump (best to check temp coming in to the engine - or thats the theory!).

Second time I tapped it into the top of the thermostat housing just before the Outlet. Worked a charm - and dual speed fans ;). Wired the A/C relay up so it had a switch - during summer I switched it to h/s on a/c, winter low speed was enough. Car stayed cool, I stayed happy.

Hrmmm, there's an interesting thought. I need rectangle lights for the mighty boy, I wonder what car's have the same light as a semi sealed setup? I will keep the Pajero in mind to convert my Hz panel van to H4's. :D

The weather is slowly getting better, so a trip to the nick a part might be on the cards soon.

Cheers
