Got the Tx5 running again on thursday night, after borrowing a bloody big socket set, to use a 1&1/8th of an inch socket to get the nut off for the oil cooler. So i could then replace the starter motor. That was a pita job if there ever was one! Note to self, buy some bloody big sockets!

Done a bit of cleaning up & moving things around in the shed today, looking for a couple of small bits for people too. Found one part, still searching for the other. Managed to get a pair of rocker cover grommets off ebay, so i have fit up my newly tarted up rocker cover to the panel van, and I put the other one in the parts washer to clean the crap off it, I should be able to get it primed up this w/e, with the weather being so good. It looks rather good on the 253, but now the rest of the engine is looking a little crappy lol.

I also paid a visit to the panel beaters today. There has been a lot of progress made on my car, but the bonnet hasn't been done yet, so it's a while before i get it back. Will i get it back before my birthday or even the boosted falcon cruise the day after? I hope so......

Cheers

ToranaGuy

Cool, but don't tease the commodore owners too much man..... Says he who is in the shed, on his old Mac G3, been working on the other rocker cover for my Hz panel van, as well as some more cleaning up & finding tools & parts lol.

Cheers

nice work on the rocker covers.. but you know what im going to say now... PICS :P

Ok ok, pics time... While waiting for the oil to drain from the mighty boy.

The painted one fit to the car. The one in the previous pic is currently drying it's first coat of VHT holden red. It's now looking much better, maybe i should pull the exhaust manifolds off, wire wheel them & hit them with some high temp black paint? Or just wait until i can source a set of extractors? The air cleaner will be cleaned before final fitment, it was just sat on there to show the red against the black & to fit the breather hose to it.

Anyway, break is over, much to do. Back to the shed I go...

Cheers

Mighty boy horn upgrade......

Doing a bit of parts searching in the shed on Sunday, I found a spare Eb/ED single horn. I also have a couple of the high series twin horn setups too. Had a look at it & scratched my head a bit. Then had a look at the horn in the mighty boy, it's a 2 wire horn too....

I had an incident the other day, had someone cut me off & they couldn't hear the stock horn, which sounds like a road runner meep meep, instead of a bloody big HONK HONK lol. So in went the ford horn, and it's a big improvement. I had someone cut me off today, honked the horn & they took notice, got a bit of a fright I was there lol.

Cheers

i love horns.. thats why i bought the twin air horn setup from ebay.. people notice me now lol

also with a single wire setup you put the blue wire from the car and the black wire you run straight to the body. the single wire units just earth through the body so any horn will work on any car ;)

those rocker covers are looking good

i absolutely hate it when people cut me off. but it seems to happen more and more these days. but what really pisses me off is when some one cuts you off, you beep, and the pricks have the nerve to flip you off. or they attempt to cut you off, you beep, they swerve back into there lane and then proceed to try and cut you off again. i swear to god they are passing idiots on there license test these days

Got to use the new horn today again, it's nice to heave a horn you can scare ppl with....

We have run out of holden red at work, so I have 2 can's on order, Might get them in by friday to finish the 2nd rocker cover off by saturday.

In other news, my EB is now not getting the bonnet done thru insurance, even tho it was damaged in the accident. It's going to cost me out of my back pocket. Grrrrrr. I think that it's taken way too long, so tomorrow I'm going to haggle them like crazy on the price, as they want $600 to do the bonnet, after I have already supplied the drivers door & guard!

Not a happy camper today....

Cheers

Hrmmm, interesting pic man...

That could be starting some dangerous thinking. I have a parts bomb in the front yard that could look good with the roof lopped off lol. Once a sunroof as been test fit to it...

Cheers

O man! If only I had the folding, hell yeah it would! I currently don't, and there are a few other projects that the same amount of cash as a turbo install on the EB Ghia, could have my Xr8 finished enough to be on the road, or even my panel van. I would also probably have enough money left to get the last bits for the mighty boy's turbo setup.

On my too do list is to tidy up the thermo fan wiring, tidy up the EF plug in fuse conversion. Paint up & swap over my other rocker cover, as the one on the car is cracked & leaks oily fumes. I also need to sort a couple of little drama's with the lpg, and install new front sway bar D bushes. Maybe even swap in my spare steering rack too.... In no particular order lol.

Cheers

ToranaGuy
