turbo installs art too expensive... thus far i have spent less then 2k and i only need a J3 and injectors..

well i also need exhaust but the stock can hold up to 230rwkw

Yeah, I know man. I could have my Xr8 on the road for less than $2k and probably buy the last bits for my mighty boy's turbo setup....... lol.

If the current turbo i have wasn't a tad small on the intake side I'd get a manifold, some pipe work & a fmic, fit it up & run 5psi, to keep stock injectors & LPG happy for now...

I think my T04B is a tad small for the 4lt falcon engine. Would be so responsive, but probably run out of puff about 4500rpm...

Cheers

forget the FMIC and just run it straight into the T/B... 5psi wont be too shabby. and besides by the time your at 4500rpm you will be at the speed limit ;) and good for towing

All very good points. 5psi i could forget the fmic to start with, saving a few bucks, but will still need a fair bit of pipe work. Don't tempt me to get the turbo fit to the falcon man, it's supposed to go on the torana! It's a genuine Air Research (Garret), cost me a bomb to have it reco'd....

I would still need to get it engineered to be legal tho, no point doing that unless i mod the front bar & the a/c then fit a fmic, so I only need it engineered once...

Cheers

pipework??? BBM conversion then you only need 1x 45 degree 3" pipe, 1x 2-3" reducer and 1x3-3.5" reducer and your done. you can run upto 9psi on stock injector and ECU. the EA AIT falcons ran stock injectors, exhaust and everything. and i believe doubled the factory power specs. tho they did run a small FMIC.

I don't want to do a BBM conversion, it would take time away from other projects & I would have to get bits to modify my gas injection then, I see that as work that won't get me much gain. Not to mention doing a serp belt conversion..... However i do have another log manifold here I could fit new injector bungs in a bit better place....

Cheers

Been playing with falcons last night & this morning. The dude rocked up for the LSD diff, so now I have a little folding to spend on the mighty boy. Only problem is the rego is due next week, so it will probably end up towards that instead of buying a new radiator like I wanted, and need lol.

But I won't need the radiator too badly when I get my Ghia back. Maybe some time next week, it wasn't going to be ready for a pickup today. Not happy about that. It's exactly 1 month today since I handed it over.

On happier things. The weather is pretty good, so I'm going to get another coat of paint on my last rocker cover for the Hz panel van, and finish priming up the hold down bolts & plates too. Then I dunno what else I will get done, plenty to do. On thing is for sure tho, I'm really tempted to turbo the Ghia, had too many drives behind the wheel of my g/f's turbo tx5, boost is very addictive!

Cheers

If there was enough to share around dude, I would, but the weather is rather unpredictable down here in Melb atm, can be nice in the morning, rain around lunch time & then reasonable in the evening..... lol.

I got my "car park" mowed, some paint on the rocker cover, primer on the bolts & plates, cleaned up my shed a bit more, still can't find these damn ford dizzies I know I have hanging around. I also got a few other little things done too, such as replying to emails & pm's about car parts I'm selling, hopefully a few of those will turn into sales...

Cheers

Well, the day has finally come. I went & picked up the EB Ghia from the panel shop today. Pitty the arvo turned to s**t, otherwise I would have got a few pics of it. I will give it a wash in the next couple of days & get some pics up. Looking much better overall, but still work to be done. There always is with a car.

It felt so great to be back behind the wheel of it. On the way home, I forgot how easy it is to make the rear end step out, I turned left off Furlong Rd onto the onramp of the Western Ring Road, to head city bound, and gave it just a little, and the a*** end kicked out. Brought a huge grin to my face, can't do that in a FWD car! :-) Snapped 2nd, pulled it straight, and tore up the on ramp, snapping 3rd as I merged onto the fwy. Oh yeah.... Fun!

It would be sweeter boosted, and I'm sure that going on the boosted cruise is going to make the itch to get boosted greater!

Cheers

I have been busy playing with the LPG Injection wiring, found a fault in the power wire, repaired that with a temporary fix & it's running (but badly) on LPG now. The plugs it has are denso plugs, not suited to LPG, so I'm going to swap in my NGK plugs from my other engine & then give the gas a tune. Have to wait on the weather to get a bit better to do that tho....

I'm enjoying having it back, just have to get it 100% on LPG so I can afford to enjoy it lol!

Cheers

When's the turbo arrive? Ummm, I already have a turbo in the cupboard dude! A T04B, 1.06 rear, but the front is a tad small I think as I have said before. I think you mean when does a manifold arrive? Altho there is a dude here in melb that does a manifold, turbo & external wastegate setup for $1000, I think it's pretty good value.

My turbo doesn't have a wastegate, so I need to run an external one...

Yeah Brenton, love the power of a manual 4L, but I'd also love more power in it. Still can't beat the sound of a worked 5L with a T5 backing it tho, If you got a chance to drop in & hear my Eb2 Xr8, the red one, you will know what I mean!

Sounds like a good idea, T5 in the street car, and a stalled BTR in the SVO, a good BTR will hold up to more power down the track if you go wild under the hood. Just remember to fit a big trans cooler! Also, fit a LPG anti backfire valve on your EB is you keep the current LPG setup & go to a manual.

Lpg installers don't like installing mixer setups on manual falcon's, apparently due to the nature of how quickly the engine can drop & raise the rev's, can cause it to backfire on LPG.

Cheers

This is what I'm talking about. Something that is left out of so many conversions to save a few bucks!

Anyway, I run my code scanner on the Eb Ghia tonight, after I swapped the battery for a proper EB one, and the spark plugs over for some LPG friendly plugs. My battery has s**t itself since the EB went to the panel shop. Buggers let it run completely flat & it's now not holding a charge. p****d off about that, it was fine before it went in. GRRRR!

Anyway, at least I have a few (like 4) almost new spare 58EB Batteries, so I have rewired the terminals to suit, as I had a 68EF battery in there previously. Fired the beast up & tuned the LPG. It runs a lot better than it was on LPG the other day, but still rough. Spark plugs are near new & gapped at 0.9mm to suit LPG. I think the bosch leads that look reasonably new on the engine are not up to LPG. I will do something about getting a new #4 ICE lead for my set soon.

So it runs a lot better on LPG. I run thru a code scan, both Key On Engine Off & Engine On scans. Found the HEGO (o2 sensor) is always reading lean. It's fairly new. I think the LPG ecu might have something to do with that, where the wiring patches in to the signal. I need to scratch my head some more on this issue....

Cheers
