is the LPG tapping into the O2 sensor wire? the shared wire COULD be playing silly buggers with the sensor

Voltage drop . Check from engine to body - the LPG ECU normally gets a signal ground from where the ECU is wired into - and the EEC ECU gets it from the back of the block on the engine. So the EEC isnt bothered as much by VD/Earth Drop.
Ive seen over a Volt of difference from the body to the engine, and the LPG ECU will work with what it thinks it sees Nigel |

My LPG ECU has it's own earth point, at the bottom of the firewall under the carpet.
I will need to check over the earth points. Need to dig out the gregories & look over the wiring diagrams too I think. For now, the car runs well enough I can cruise around on LPG, it has a bit of a miss, but nothing major. Runs fine on petrol, but petrol costs are sending me broke atm.... Cheers ToranaGuy

Grab a multimeter, and probe voltage on the 5v range from the engine to Chassis near the battery, and from the engine to the LPG ECU Earth. if you dont see much have a go on a lower range.
My EF Showed .8v. My EB .07v. The EB ran ok - the EF like s**t, and it ate a radiator in 6 months. Nigel |

{USERNAME} wrote: oh. so it goes in the intake pipe and get's forced shut if it backfires no exactly the opposite. The amount of vaccum in the intake has enough suction to hold it closed while the car is running but if the intake becomes pressurised it opens. Basically it stops your intake piping and airbox being blown to bits if the car does back fire. Easiest way is to cut about a 50mm hole in the top of your airbox and use a couple of rivets to hold a piece of inner tube over the hole. It should seal when the car is running. My EF has a plastic intake so I also drilled a couple of 15 -20mm hole in the top of the tube and just put a couple of stickers over the holes to seal them. Hasn't failed me yet and my cars had a few very big backfires. |

mine only backfires if you snap WOT. so when taking off to WOT i just ease it down over a second and it's alright. if i wanna get anywhere quickly a flick it to petrol

WildEB -> That backfire you have when you get off the peddle from WOT, is it thru the intake or is it just dumping raw fuel out the exhaust & then it's igniting in the exhaust pipe? Last night, I had the Eb Ghia out, and it's sluggish on LPG until about 2500 rpm, then ok to about 4000, then no more power. I had an overtaking opportunity, switched it to petrol & dropped the boot @ 80 clicks, 160 clicks come up real quick. Was good fun. Would be even better fun boosted lol. /must resist temptation to boost the EB, Have other projects to work & spend up on.... ROFL. Cheers ToranaGuy

If I won a lot of money in lotto maybe I would give in.... Anyway, back from a short trip away, the Great Ocean road really is a drivers road, and with a 5spd EB, it was very tempting to give it a little & have some fun, but I had passengers & couldn't. Cheers ToranaGuy

Tonight I got another coat of paint on the rocker cover hold down's for my panel van's 2nd rocker cover, and my best mate dropped in & bought (cheaply) a passenger mirror for his ED, as his kids decided to swing off his one & ripped it off the car... oops!
Other than that, not much progress, but tomorrow night I get off work at a reasonable hour, so I might get some work done on the car's. I'm off work on friday thru to sunday, so might get a bit more done on on friday & saturday, before the cruise on sunday. Will have to wait & see.... Cheers ToranaGuy

sounds like my week lol. i had the last few days off work mainly sick, but today i have an interview for a promotion and what happens? i fall down stairs due to rain and end up with bruises all over me, stuffed my back, cant sit and walk like a duck lol and now no time to work on the fairlane... sigh.
speaking of parts.. have you got a good o2 sensor? mine went to the metal recyclers and the one i got could be the reason the car is randomly stopping |

{USERNAME} wrote: I have been busy playing with the LPG Injection wiring, found a fault in the power wire, repaired that with a temporary fix & it's running (but badly) on LPG now. The plugs it has are denso plugs, not suited to LPG, so I'm going to swap in my NGK plugs from my other engine & then give the gas a tune. Have to wait on the weather to get a bit better to do that tho.... I'm enjoying having it back, just have to get it 100% on LPG so I can afford to enjoy it lol! Cheers ToranaGuy just asking.. what is it doing? just missing underload only on gas? as it might be a sus coil.. mine had been giving me greif under load and doing intermittently on petrol too |
