Was speaking with my best mate tonight, and he is wanting to see my torry's running gear back in it real soon (probably wants to steal my engine stand for a while lols), he has the next 3 weeks off work & said he can come on over & give a huge hand to see it thru. There's a few things I'm going to have to get & have done to be able to do it.
I'm going to need the following that I can think of right now:
Upper control arm bushes supplied & fit to arms in nolathane Tart up the sub frame with some gloss black paint New steering rack boots Gearbox kit (want to drop engine + box in at one time) New clutch kit? Better dig out my clutch & see how much life is in it Throw out bearing, spigot bush & clutch fork at the least A liter of paint, some more thinners & some primer A new fan duct (mine is broken) or repair mine New engine mounts The bushes & mounts are pretty cheap, so are the clutch bearings. The clutch fork & paint are going to cost me, will have to see if I can afford it from my next pay. Could be a few late nights in the shed ahead. Gotta get the new radiator into the mighty boy before I do some work on the torry tho! Cheers ToranaGuy

Ok, it's pic time. Here's one of loading the charger up last week. Yeah it has tie downs over the diff & sub frame as well!
Attachment: IMAGE_018.jpg The Eb Ghia isn't just a show pony, it works hard too. Tonight I did the gearbox service, and it's a lot quieter, but I think I need a bit more treatment in it to quieten it up completely. I cleaned some tools & put them away too, and found a couple of tools I was missing. Still can't find my welding magnets. Need to find them to finish making up the brackets for the new radiator getting installed in the mighty boy. Might be able to find them tomorrow night after work. New radiator is going to go in fairly easy, and give a little more clearance for a dump pipe for the turbo setup later on, which is a good thing I think. Other things to do first. Should get the EFI on & running properly first. Still need a few little things for that to be done too. Setup? You mean the EFI turbo or the AWD setup? One step at a time man.... lol. Not long got home from work, Ghia needs a wash, then I might get into the shed & find the tools I need.... Cheers ToranaGuy

New Year is here. Spent yesterday trying to sort out how to get a HILUX rear diff (live rear axle setup) into a raised Suzuki... Bloody interesting stuff, but failed in the end due to some idiot measuring something wrong and ending up with 12.5mm off centre - Which means 25mm extra wheel on drivers side - Great for turning left I guess.
Ah well. They have this ball joint on top of diff housing on the original Suzuki which we replaced with this ball joint on a thread to raise and lower pinion angle... Anyway, some idiot (The Butler did it, I kid you not) worked out that it was offset 25mm and so they drilled new holes in the plate welded to the top of the Toyota diff 25mm off centre. Which is wrong wrong wrong. Lucky someone noticed before welding the brackets for the trailing arms to the diff. Why am I telling you this? That's an interesting point. It just brings back memories of pissing about with stripping back diffs, attaching leaf spring mounts, pinion angles and all sorts of stuff I seem to remember you having a passing acquaintance with. Happy New Year matey! |

Hey Fiend,
Sounds like it was a day of fun messing with the diff! Soon I need to get my new set of rear springs into my Hz pano, and I will have to play with the setup a tad to get the pinion angle right. I'm not sure if the new springs will raise or lower the diff in relation to the body just yet, as I'm going from a 3 leaf pack to either 6 or 7, can't remember, but the springs are from a Hz 1ton ute, as I was planning on doing some tow work with the pano, and the stock pano springs are way soft.... Also have new springs to fit into the mighty boy too, but I've lost 1 fishplate. Grrrr. Might just have to go visit the wreckers & pickup a pair of early swift plates, so I can get a rear sway bar made up. Cheers & Happy New Year! ToranaGuy
