This is only the 4th falcon in total i've wrecked, 3 in the last 3ish months. I have stripped many other car's tho, early commodores, torana's, kingswoods, yada yada lol. I've had the dash in & out of the EB Ghia about 10 times now. Needs to come out again soon to repair the peddle box. I'm going to fix up one of my auto peddle boxes to be a manual one, then fit it. There isn't anything on the EB Ghia that hasn't been off the car at least twice in the last 6 years lol. Cheers ToranaGuy

I still need to change a welsh plug & to do my clutch on the EB Ghia. Today when i pulled the console from the ED Ghia, i found that it was in almost perfect condition, which is a great bonus, most of them are broken around the side mounting. It's cracked on one side, but not broken, so easy to repair. Cheers ToranaGuy

Here's the wood it had - for sale atm. I'd fit it to my ghia but need the cash more than the wood. Attachment: dash wood - how it looks.JPG Here's a door trim pic of the ED Ghia - the wood needs some new varnish / lacqer on them, but they are real wood so that's not so hard to restore them. The trims are a little grotty but pretty good shape for their age. Attachment: P1010006.JPG The leather wrapped steering wheel. If i can only find my puller, this will get cleaned up & fit into my EB Ghia (and the Xr8 later if i keep it lol) It's got some sun damage to the top of it, but nowhere near as bad as most i've seen. A lot of leather conditioner should help it out. Attachment: P1010007.JPG Here's a shot of the amp, incase anyone is wondering. Attachment: P1010019.JPG Anyway, i better get off the pc, i have a dude coming over in regards to the seats, leather & velour. Hopefully they sell, will help to make next weeks mortgage payment. Grrrrrrr..... buyers not turning up for bits.... the guy who wanted the radiator did turn up, and also bought a good clutch fan i had, so i'm rapt with that, a couple of bucks to pay bills with lol.
Spent most of yesterday before the huge storm pulling the firewall back into shape on the white Xr8, all the major damage is pulled out, now it's fine for the smaller hammers & dollies to come out, but that will have to wait until tomorrow, i come down to Geelong with a mate to the Chrysler show, some nice old machines here! Cheers ToranaGuy

I think it's update time. Or is it that i actually have time to sit down here & write an update? It's been a busy week. Tonight i dropped an engine, I6, off to WildEB, as his has a big end knock, which i must admit after hearing it, sounds pretty bad!
I pulled the auto off the engine early on thursday, and managed to spill trans oil all over the driveway, so had a lot of fun cleaning that up. NOT. Ah well. It happens. The engine traveled really well on my tandem trailer up here to Bengido, i passed more than a few trucks & small car's while going up hill pulling the trailer, with engine & crane ontop of it. Probably about 900kg extra weight i was moving along, as the trailer weighs 650 empty, and it's only 12x6ft! It's very solid, my dad did a good job building it all those years ago, back in 1976. It's a real trojan, done a lot of work with it. Today i was having a look under the seats in the ED Ghia, and i've worked out how to make some mounting brackets up to mount the factory amp under the seat to power my speakers. Only material i have to make it from is 40mm x 3mm steel bar, a bit of overkill i think, but it won't move! I also had a look in the mighty boy, as i need to do something about the stereo before next weekends cruise to albury. I have 2 sony & 1 pioneer head units i can choose from, a pair of sony 2 way 6" speakers, some kenwood 2 way 6" speakers, a couple of ford factory 6" dual cone's, a 2 channel 200w amp, and i will have to borrow the sub from the Eb Ghia for the weekend, just don't have the funds for even a cheap sub. The rest is bits i have pulled from car's i've wrecked. Anyway, i'm off to bed to dream about what & how i'm fitting it up to the mighty boy. Cheers ToranaGuy

pioneer headunit with kenwood speakers
with the amp, i dont think i have ever seen someone "mount" and amp under a seat, most just screw it straight to the floor using short screws but im keen to see how you do it, take plenty of pics as i think ill do this in the lane when i boost it keeping as much space in the boot as possible.. not that i need more space lol, wheat the lane has left over with 2x 12" subs is still more then a falcon with no subs lol |

Pioneer headunit & kenwood speakers, sounds like someone is speaking from experience? lol. That's what i have for my hu & front door speakers in the EB Ghia. I have Sony Xplod 6x9 for the rear & a clarion amp & sub. Still have factory premo sound tweeters in the dash, gotta replace them one day.
Cheers ToranaGuy

well i have 2 sony amps and a sony mp3 headunit and a sony dvd player.. and i wish i didnt buy sony lol, the sound isnt too good. plenty of high range which is GREAT!!! for listening to rock music, but anything else it just doesnt seem right. JVC i found doesnt have enough high range. pioneer from i have heard sound nice but everyone seems to run them... maybe they are just cheap $ wise

When i was picking the 6x9's, i picked the sony's because they sounded the most "rounded" and played rock & heavy metal the best in the price range i was looking at. I also picked them over 6" 2 way's as i didn't have a sub at the time. Now i have a sub i should probably change to 6" 2ways, as i have a little too much bass i think.
Cheers ToranaGuy

{USERNAME} wrote: yeh cheers for dropping off the engine. damn straight the knock is bad. but it still get's me around without a hassle Thats cool mate. My heavy right boot cost a whole tank of LPG for the trip, which really isn't so bad when you consider the extra weight i was pulling around. I can normally get 500-600kms a tank out on the highway, i got 360 to the last tank. I had to clear some space at the front of my shed to fit the crane, i seem to have a 4spd auto from a ED Ghia taking the previous crane parking space up. So my torana currently has a sunroof sitting ontop of it. Got me thinking, the roof is long enough & wide enough for a EA-EL electric sunroof, but i dunno about head clearance. I need to measure how low they sit, as there isn't as much seat to roof lining distance as in a falcon. Anyway, my g/f already has an order in for a sunroof in her EB Xr8, and is trying to get me to install mine into her car. I think i will have to get another "parts car" to rape for a sunroof somewhere down the track... I decided to take my mighty boy out for a short run tonight, so i fit up the battery, gave it a kick, started first go, and went for a short cruise to the super market. I can't wait to get my 3 leaf setup in the rear end, and a new set of shockers all around. The shockers are rather soft, as you expect for a vehicle that is so light, but they are not unroadworthy. I just like my ride firmer than it currently rides. Altho it does ride firmer since fitting the 15's with low profile rubber on them. It's one of of only maybe 10 or 15 mighty boy's with 15's on it in this country, lol. Cheers ToranaGuy

Hey everyone, i've been busy, have you all been busy too? lol.
Was stripping more bits from the ED Ghia last night, i just can't wait to have it out of my driveway. Had some help, both working & drinking (as you do when playing with car's at night) from my mate Syd & muncher2002 as well, thanks guys. I also got let in on a secret, that i might be wrecking a EF or EL wagon soon. Far out is all i said. Gotta stop wrecking car's for a couple wks & get some of the parts i've hoarded into the car's they are intended for! Anyway, this is how we siphoned the tank. Nice & easy way to get 20ltrs of petrol out of it. Attachment: P1010025.JPG Attachment: P1010024.JPG I have to get this now POS car out of my driveway so i can get to welding up the firewall on the Xr8, it's too hard doing it down in the dirt. I'm going away saturday & sunday with my mighty boy mates, so i probably won't get this thing ready to cart away before early next week. Anyway, i've gotta get back into the driveway, things to do before i can take the mighty boy on a road trip tomorrow. I just wish it had a/c! Look at all those little mighty boy's lined up! Mine is the white one on the far right side of the pic. This was taken Saturday night at the Ettamogah pub in NSW. Yep, i drove the mighty boy up on Saturday in the heat, wishing it had a/c, but it traveled along really well, only slowing down slightly for a couple of hills, never dropping below 95kph, and pushing 120 in a few places. The F8b run pretty good, averaged 7/100 for economy as well. I did a whole 850kms round trip from my place to Albury, then some cruzin around & the pub stop, then back again today. The little engine surprised me & a lot of freeway travelers as well, i overtook many car's & trucks, with a big smile on my dial. The porting work i had done to the cylinder head was very worth the money! If anyone cares, there's a couple of turbo's & one supercharged mighty boy in amongst that mix. Cheers ToranaGuy
