Hope it holds out for you until you have funds to do the top end properly. I need to get a new set of rocker arms & new lifters for my spare head if I decide to do it up, lifters are not all that expensive, I can get them cheap atm. Cheers ToranaGuy

After a drive tonight, the miss is gone, and my petrol economy has improved too. It's running rough on LPG tho (too rich). I think I need to whip out the old laptop & tune software & give it a re-tune this w/e.
Was nice to be back in a RWD car, but damn, getting tired of that s**t T5 box. Cheers ToranaGuy

The MLS gasket is almost 3 times the price of the std gaskets, but from what I read it's the way to go, esp if I get some boost down the track lol. Cheers ToranaGuy want to send me a set of head bolts? repco quoted me $42.99 and autobarn $64. however autobarn want $34 for a head gasket and repco want $98 go figure |

What cheapo brand of head gaskit is that for $34? Cost price on ACL is more than that! Head bolts are thru Nason engine parts, they weigh a fair bit, probably cost $15 or maybe more to post, not saving you much at all. I thought head bolts were cheaper than $42.99 retail, I seem to recall about $38. Anyway, drop me a pm in regards to this stuff. Cheers ToranaGuy

Mighty boy started playing up today, had a bad misfire. Checked the points, they needed to be re-gaped again. It was less than 1,000kms ago I did them ffs! I hate points....
In other news, not much going on, just cleaned up a tad in my shed... Cheers Toranaguy

I got the pm, replied as you know.
I think that cost price might include about $16 worth of transport cost TBH. In other news, bought a little electric heater at bunnings the other day, yet to try it out, had other things to take care of, like the puppy & a few things inside the house. I've had to spend some more money on something else, so not much left for a shed heater. Having read the updates on BenJ's build thread, I really want to get my GT flares finished & on the car. If the heater works out, I might be able to get some work done on them. I only need to take the chill off the air to be able to get some work done. I don't have a lot of room in the shed atm due to 2 car's in parts that can't go outside, so I will have to resort to small jobs when the nights are cold & the days the weather is poor. I'm hoping for a good 2 days of good weather this w/e, lots I want to try & get done, including some mowing lol. Cheers ToranaGuy

WILDEB wrote: lol. you got the flares off me like 18 months ago Yeah I know man, a lot has happened since then, such as destroying an engine, a gearbox, and lots of other things have had to be done..... The flares are not exactly high up the list of priorities lol. In breaking news, On the way home from work tonight in the mighty boy, I suddenly lost all power & looked out the mirror, seen a big cloud of white smoke. Oh noes! Pulled over & let the car sit for a bit, then started it again & run it at a fast idle for a bit, burnt off some of the oil on the plugs & then drove it home. It got back most of it's power when I got close to home....wonder what happened, and if it will be right once I let it cool down and check the oil level. These things don't run a pcv valve, only a vent system that burns all the blow by gasses all the time.... Cheers ToranaGuy

It's not oil it was burning, it's coolant. I think it's popped the head gaskit. Slightly milky in the valve cover & in the sump. Not majorly, but it is, and it's lost coolant. Adding those two together = head gaskit. Awww s**t, wonder what it's going to cost for some gaskits to fix it? Wonder if I can get them tomorrow?
While I'm there I might as well pull it all out, fix my new f8b gearbox (better final drive ratio), and do the timing belt & tensioner too. At least the EB Ghia runs atm, but that T5 is going to drive me up the wall. UPS, hurry up & deliver my damn syncro set! Cheers ToranaGuy
