TX5 Looks good, mate. You got me looking them up on carpoint. This one looks the same as your girl's:

Too bad it's auto, though.

Thanks man, I tried to follow the link, no longer for sale....We thought about buying another & swapping over a few good bits, but couldn't find a manual one & I didn't want to do a manual conversion, so we repaired this one.

In other news, I have the T5 outta the Ghia - found the clutch plate is smashed into 2 pieces. That killed the transmission of power! Spigot is not seized, but not new either. Still serviceable. Not enough play in the input shaft to cause the issue, there is almost none at all, meaning no bearing wear yet. Thrust bearing is perfect. The sandwich plates were in, as were the locating dowels. Only just over 5,000kms on the kit! I can't find a reason for the clutch failure other than a s**t PART!

I removed the spigot bearing tonight, and found the item that is listed in repco's computer is WRONG! ARGH! I can't put the car back together.....as I want a brand new one in there! Need to go hunting for one tomorrow...

Cheers

Got the genuine spigot from Ford, and a spare for good measure, as the v8's are supposed to run the same spigot, so with the manual car's, not a bad idea to have a spare. The new clutch is in, and it's back on the road as of early this morning, like just after midnight lol.

As much as I had fun driving the Tx5 Turbo, I missed the Ghia. Glad to have it back on the road, now I can move onto other things. Maybe I should turbo the Ghia one day?

Cheers

New clutch is running good, gearbox feels the best it has in a while. Have not got anything more done on it or the Tx5 in the last couple of days. Has a coolant leak that I can't seem to find, maybe the head gaskit is leaking again, or maybe the gas converter is leaking, there is residue of dried up coolant on it. Bugger!

I did get a chance to paint up a spare valve cover for the spare f8b mighty boy engine the other day. Hit it with VHT yellow for something different.

Cheers

Got some more of the black tx5 cut up tonight, ready for a scrap run in the morning. Been driving the ghia to & from work, glad to be back in a RWD car, but there are little issues to work out with the electrics soon, as well as install a replacement lighter socket & my new bluetooth head unit lol. Always something to do.

Cheers

Here's a pic of the valve cover for the "spare" F8b engine for the mighty boy. I should get the block crack tested soon, then clean & paint it too. Need it to dummy up my turbo parts.

Image

Took the 6x4 load of scrap the the metal yard this morning, for another $120 to go towards stuff. There was about 400kg of steel, some alloy engine parts inc a cyl head, 4 or 5 radiators. There's about another 300-500kg of steel to take next time, as well as probably 10kg of wiring too.

Wrecked this car during the last week... Scored a sunroof from it, to go into the red Tx5 somewhere down the track. More than 1/2 of it is already at the scrap yard... lol

Had some trouble with the water pump recently. I noted a spray pattern of coolant under the bonnet that screamed "WATER PUMP SHAFT SEAL" - sucks to be you! Picked up a new pump from work on friday & last night at about 10pm, started the job to fit it. It was just too hot to do it before the sun was way down. Just over a hour & a half under worklights and it has a new pump on it, running good again. Those work lights were a great investment!

Image

Silver seal on the bottom of the pump - due to a head gasket leak - which isn't going to be fixed any time soon I don't think, this engine has too much blow by to worry about the head gasket. I'll rebuild the spare engine that's in the shed, it really only needs a strip down & inspection to make sure no metal from the broken rockers damaged anything else, replace the rockers & re-assemble it, but I think a full rebuild wouldn't go astray.

Image

New pump on, waiting on the gasket goo to dry. It's all done & back on the road again sans water pump leak lol.

Swapped over the FPR the other night, as the car had got to the point it wouldn't idle, and was very hard to start. After some diagnoistics, found the FPR wasn't holding much pressure in the fuel rail. It's now much easier to start & idles much better, but I think I have a leaking injector as well.

Drives heaps better too, lots more power. Tried to tune the LPG ecu & my old laptop is playing up, and I also found my usb to serial adapter doesn't support my win7 laptop. Bugger! New one on order, hopefully it arrives soon, so I can get it running properly on LPG now. It's so rich it's not funny.

Cheers

Progress! Got the tx5 turbo in the booth on Sunday, front end has been painted, just need to swap the new intercooler over, fix a small dint in the bumper of the much better bumper & then it's back on the road again!

Pics up later.

Cheers

I've had s**t internet all week, so only now did I get the pics up to photobucket.

The paint job didn't come up too badly at all. There is a few small imperfections in the grill & one small bit of crap managed to get in the clear on the passenger guard, but it's not a show car, so we are not going to worry about these minor issues atm.

Also pulled the dash on saturday night & replaced the heater core. Just need to fix the dint in the new bumper & fit the new intercooler, and some clips for the grill & center trim piece. Getting closer now!

Yes the car has a lot of fade on the rest of it, nothing a cut & polish won't change, only once the fresh paint & clear coat is hard enough tho. Under the dash the paint isn't faded & is the same color as the fresh paint. :D

We are planning a full closed door respray next summer, if a few other things get done in the mean time.

Cheers

Closed door as in the car's man, not the spray booth, the panel shed there doesn't have doors lol!
Don't be dude, I'd rather be doing a respray on my panel van, but this is going to need one too. The building & spray booth were borrowed on a sunday while they were not being used. I wish I had a shed that I could park 5 route busses nose to tail in, and one in the spray booth!

Look how many car's & busses are in the background! ;)

Cheers

Thanks dude. It's "almost" back on the road, just gotta do the last few bits & get the insurance to sign off on it...

Kayt loves her turbo, otherwise we would have scrapped it & got something else.

Cheers

A little more work this evening...

Image

Image

Pulled some of the front apart tonight, replaced the intercooler with one that isn't crushed, fit the a/c dryer bracket, a couple of bolts we missed the other day & found a much better drivers side headlight in the shed, that will go on in the next few days.

Just need to get the heat gun out(bought one on friday from work) and fix the dint in the replacement bumper, and get all the trim clips for the grill sorted.

Cheers
