Hrmm, nobody has anything to say? Far out, must be the holidays. I know plenty are reading this thread tho, from the views. I'm surprised i haven't had someone pop up & say something about the points issue i have with the mighty boy. Ah well, won't be an issue in a few mths time lol.
I spent some time thursday cleaning up the shed a little, organizing ford bits, and today i sold a few parts, so i have just a little breathing room now. I'm now less one lsd diff, one sports cluster & 2 starter motors. Still a lot of little bits to sell like a set of seat belts, small plastic bits & so on. Did a little more work on the firewall of the Xr8, it's so close to being where it needs to be now. Just a little more, and it's right to weld..... After selling Ford bits today, we did a little work on the LPG tank cradle for my panel van, as i'm sick of tripping over it. It's been wire wheeled back to bare metal & primed up. Hopefully tomorrow the primer is dry & I will give it a lick of paint. Not sure what color yet, I'm tossing up between a silver or gloss black paint job. Silver is almost drop tank like, so i might lean that way, but I'll have to pick up some paint to do that, don't have any in my collection here. No pics yet, but maybe tomorrow, when the camera's batteries are charged up. I'm hoping i will have it all ready to bolt into the Hz in about a weeks time, and i might even bolt in my out of date tank just to get it off the shed floor as well. It will be removed for rwc & rego tho, as the car has never been LPG. After rego it will be getting converted & compliance. Hopefully the grant is still around then! Anyway, i've got stuff to do so i'm hoping off Fordmods for tonight. Chat to you all soon.(with some pics too lol) Cheers ToranaGuy

Thanks dude. I didn't mean to pressure anyone into posting, but it's nice to see someone post & even question what I'm up to.
I've done what i had to do for a bit, now i can spend a couple mins posting here while I'm waiting on my laundry to finish. Bringing up the points dizzy issue reminds me, i still have to fit my electronic dizzy setup to my panel van. Been meaning to do it for a long time now, but as the van isn't drivable on public roads (no rego) it's not that big of an issue, except i have a bloody dizzy taking up room on the shelf when it shouldn't be. It's easy to wire up too. I should have a quick look at it this w/e & see if i can't find the time to get it in & running. Then i can do something about getting rid of the old points dizzy. Cheers ToranaGuy

I joke around a fair bit, even helped my cousin create a joke group on facebook called Bongholio. It's an inside joke, but we find it funny. I used to get a mate to do my dizzys but i pulled one apart & found out how to set them up & repair them, been helpful. Yawns, should have had more than 5hrs sleep last night. Oh well, on with it, too much to do. Gotta take a little drive to the post office & post off some bits today. Cheers ToranaGuy

Pics are worth a thousand words. So let them tell the story of tonights panel beating.....
Attachment: P1010008.JPG Attachment: P1010009.JPG Yesterday the LPG cradle for the Hz pano got a coat of primer, today it got 2 coats of silver paint. I ended up picking silver as i think it will look better than grey like they all are. Will have to wait & see what it's like bolted to the pano.I didn't get too anal with the rub back of it, as it will be under the car & cop a lot of road grime, gutters & driveways anyway. Good s**t alright. I've seen "real" panelbeaters weld chain to panels, loop the other end around a large post and simply drive the car off quickly... I think they may have outlawed the practice.

I think they may have outlawed the practice. I've seen "real" panel beaters do some dangerous stuff as well. Welding chain isn't too bad tho, I'm sure I've read somewhere that an inch of weld will hold a ton before it breaks, if it's a good weld. The panel should tear before the weld breaks. I tore the firewall a little but it has helped by allowing it to move more, and i can always weld it up later, like all the damn holes I've drilled in it, lol. There will need to be more before I'm done tho. I've seen a 4x4 that was pranged in the front dragged up a tree with a winch, to pull the radiator support out on it. One of the funniest things I've seen, but it worked, it pulled the support out enough, and the radiator wasn't damaged enough to leak, so they drove it home again. That was out doing some 4wheel driving with some friends. Crazy stuff! Cheers ToranaGuy

oh i designed the EB series chasis when i was a baby
since i have been relocating the loom well replacing with EF which run through the guard, i noticed my NC actually has the circle for the loom location but its not cut, and seeing that your panel is different it would mean series 1. also chatting to benJ he was telling me that EBII onwards share alot of things with the EF, such as the bracket on the floor to bolt the dash to that the EBI doesnt have. its the small details i take note of as you never know when the info will be useful |

The white Xr8 is a series 1 EB, and i have my EB Ghia which is series 2, and the red Xr8 is also series 2, so i can compare the differences in them. The wiring looms are very different, and the is minor differences in the series 2 shell, like all the holes for the ABS pipe work & wiring, the parcel shelf is slightly different for the middle seatbelt, and so on. I didn't know the one about the dash - i didn't pay that much attention when i wrecked the series 1 eb Fairmont Ghia before xmas last year lol. Anyway, i need to get back into the shed for a couple more hours, tools to clean, parts to organize. Cheers ToranaGuy

I was on the way home from a bbq at my mums place today for easter, and the steering become very heavy. I pulled over thinking i've thrown the belt, nope, it's still there, but got a bit of a scare when i got back into the car. On the carpet is a whole heap of needle rollers from a bearing. The steering column's bottom bearing had s**t itself!
Anyway, i have a couple of spare columns in the shed, as you do, so i got to work removing mine, and swapping the ignition lock from mine to the one i was going to fit. It still has the leather wrapped wheel on it too, which is a bonus. I've fit the column and i'm currently waiting on smartlock to do it's thing to memorize the code from the new ignition barrel. Attachment: P1010010.JPG There's supposed to be a bearing in there, but it's long gone, only a little of the race is left. Ah well, i guess you get that after 420,000kms! Last night after cleaning some tools i decided i would get a little more work done on installing my 2nd amp into the EB Ghia, as everything else i needed to do was going to be too loud, can't annoy the neighbors too much. I fit my rca splitters behind the head unit & i have run the rca lead under the carpet to where the amp will be. There's been an amp here before, as the carpet is strategically cut to allow cables thru. So i used that. I have also run a trigger wire from the amp in the boot to under the passenger seat to trigger it to turn on. It got late enough after doing that, that i decided to give up for the night. Tonight, after i get smartlock sorted & get the car started again, i might run the power wire from near my distro block under the dash to under the passenger seat, but not hook it up just yet so it's not live. I should probably also run some speaker cable runs from under the seat into position for hooking into the speakers looms as well. Will have to see how i go. I've been wanting to get some more work done on my brackets to hold the amp down, but i can't borrow an oxy to heat the steel to bend it, so i might do it in sheet metal instead, something i can work with hand tools.
