Project parts swap begins today, between the red Xr8's. Already swapped the LHR door (instead of fixing the broken 1/4 window), tail lights & onto the bootlid shortly.

Still not sure what I'm going to do engine wise, swap the EFI gear onto my hotted up currently straight LPG v8 with GTP heads, or do a full loom swap & swap the car to straight LPG. Probably better to keep it dual fuel.

Cheers

It's more an internet forum of owners, {DESCRIPTION} . The write up from the cruise can be found here {DESCRIPTION}. It's always a good fun weekend, because apart from a few highly tuned turbo & 1 supercharged mighty boy, you can't exactly "hoon" in them, and all sorts of interesting ppl own mighty boy's, making the annual Albury cruise all the more fun.

We had ppl from in & around Melbourne, Canberra, Sydney & the central NSW coast all meet up for the cruise.

I took my fiance, now she wants a red mighty boy lol. I'm going to need a factory for all these damn car's! Hrmmm, investment idea......

Got a bit of work done on the red Xr8 today, might get a chance to get the engine & auto ready to remove from the straight one tomorrow. Also gotta find time to get the pano out of the shed, so I can do the head gasket & replace the head on the mighty boy one night after work this week, rain, hail or darkness lol...

Cheers

Thanks Ben, that I am doing....

Today I got the panel van out of the shed with the help of a mate, finished bleeding the brakes, the prop valve is sticking, need to get it reco'd. Also bled the cooling system, adjusted the timing & the carby. Adjusted the shift linkage. Needed to do this so I can get it outta the shed in a few nights (hopefully), I should have the head back from the mighty boy & I plan on changing it in the shed after work.

Also got some mulching done with the help of a mate & my cousin, that was a win. The pile is getting smaller lol.

Cheers

In the spirit of "plugging along" the following was acquired today thru work:

    Head gasket for mighty boy
Bottom rad hoses & heater hoses for Xr8
    Inlet gasket set for Xr8
    Sump gasket set for Xr8
Temp switch for the Hz pano
Some vac lines - used on all the cars lol

Should be picking up the head tomorrow arvo, might even get it fit tomorrow night....maybe lol.
I also have on order 2 engine storage dollys/cradles to suit Ford small block v8. Should see them thursday. I've got a couple of windsors to store for a bit & down the track I will have a 351 clevo to store for a while too.

Tomorrow I've got a day off work, the Solar installer is coming out to replace the busted Inverter at my place, after that, time to get into the car's, exactly what jobs will depend on the weather lol.

Cheers

Been plugging away at things, got the panel van going & sorted the auto shift issue out, it now shifts gears, drove it outta the shed today & with the help of a mate put the reco head on the mightyboy. Fired it up, run well for about 10mins before the spare started to break down. Bugger...there's steam coming out of the exhaust & a bit to water in the oil...

I wonder if the inlet manifold gasket stuffed up or there is a crack in the manifold? It has coolant running thru it. Sometime this week I'll swap manifolds & see how it goes.

Also got my engine crane back tonight, so should look at ripping an engine from one of the red Xr8's sometime soon.

Cheers

Haven't touched the mighty boy since putting the head on, talking to a couple mates, we are throwing around the idea that inlet manifold might be cracked or rusted. Been busy on a few other things in the last week ish.....

Got the engine cradles (it's so cool getting packages from Rocket Industries lol), sent my Hz pano's brake prop valve off to Hoppers Stoppers for a rebuild, have it back but not yet fit it. Might get the brake lines remade before I fit it, because they are pretty poor after all these years & being undone a few times. Also picked up a couple of oil seals for the traumatic, it's leaking from the extension housing seal, selector seal & pan gasket. Gotta install them soon.

Image

Tonight after work I pulled the heater bypass off my fiance's Tx5 Turbo, and fit the proper heater hoses, bleed the cooling system & it now has a heater again, great for the late night / early mornings that she sometimes has to work.

Image

That's the next piece of the Pano puzzle. Once the brakes are sorted, there's not too much more to do before it's driveable. A big milestone! However, let's hope for good weather tomorrow, I need time to play with removing an engine from a red Xr8......

Cheers

Engine mounted to the storage cradle / dolly. The supplied bolts are useless lol. <shameless plug> Engine is for sale if anyone is interested, thread in the FS section. </shameless plug>

These things are great, make moving them around so easy.

Cheers

Been busy tinkering with a few little things in the shed, slowly getting a bit of work done on a not so secret project of mine lol. Also swapped a couple of more little bits over on the Xr8. I've now got 2 momo wheels, just need a cruise control horn pad so I can put one in my Ghia, or will I just fit it to my white Xr8, so the Xr8's are closer to "matching" ie, His & Her's?

Weather is looking good this weekend, so I hope to get the engine swapped. I've got a intake manifold & plenum gasket set, a sump gasket set, going to pickup some new mounts from work tomorrow too. That should get the engine sitting in the bay nicely.

I also found a spare mighty boy intake manifold in the shed, but it's a pre EGR type, so I need to find my pre EGR exhaust manifold too, before I can swap manifolds & see what happens, if it will run properly.

Cheers

So the hotted up 5.0 & T5 is out of the smashed Xr, the blown head gasket 5.0 & auto are out of the good xr8, and just about to put the hotted up 5.0 & T5 in. Has been a good day of progress!

I'll post up a pic later.

Have a 5.0 + auto for sale now, pm me if your interested.

Cheers
