Theres a nice cheap $690 one on ebay (new). Same software as the others. Injectors to be drilled. 2y aus warranty/support. What the hell ;). Even if I need to set it to switch to petrol at higher rpm it will do what I want better than the current one. the 185kw engine is a little starved with the current mixer/reg, and I have an au TB and MAF ready to go in as well

Car is already very strong in the low end. Im actually toying with the idea of getting two of the kits - putting the second one on the XF.

Got a linky to them Nigel? I'm interested to see what they are like. Might be an upgrade path for me down the track on the white xr8?

Cheers

Sure...

http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/190679757444 ... 195wt_1396

Certified for post 04 BF/FG, but available as an 8 cyl kit at same price.

I suspect the converter isnt big enough - but its no smaller than my eurogas one, and like I said if It switches back to PULP at high RPM thats still ok.

Ive also got the install guide emailed to me. It looks exactly the same as all of the LPi Kits

That's pretty cool, I'd love to know what power level it supports. I reckon I might need to rekit or replace my reg in my EB Ghia's system, I've been quoted $500 to supply the part, I think I'd spend a bit more & update the system to a more modern one instead, if it can support 200 flywheel kw, which doesn't leave me much head room for power gains to what I've got when the engine is healthy (130 atw last time it was on a dyno)

Cheers

I dont know.

I do know that I have here instructions showing to drill the pipe holder to 3.5mm to support 24-30km/cylinder (total 240 on a V8)... which is a little headroom. To be honest none of these systems are really geared at the larger cars, but the do work.

I also need to keep remembering that the converters dont convert the LPG as far as on a normal LPG System, and so they dont need to be as large to do the same job. My old GTI one was also quote small for size.

Some good points there Nigel. That's a power range of 192 to 240kw, which is probably slightly more restricted by the converter than the injectors. It's food for thought, that's for sure.

Cheers

Theres that, and the fact that especially with LPG your power is going to be developed at lower RPM.

I already find that with the 185, Driving in Economy mode actually gives me very good traction (Id love to know how to reprogram the TCM, or find an EL GT one with adaptive shift... or use an AU TE Series ECU with the Wheel shifters... or... yeah that)

So having it drop off a little at Max RPM (let face it, its about 5k on any falcon, but on a lot of 6's its more like 6k (Aurion etc)) probably isnt going to worry me.

Good point. My car's are all manual's, all 3 of them, so I have forgotten what it's like to drive an auto falcon. With the manuals you need to be able to supply the power quicker, because they do pick up the rev's a lot quicker.

I find that since converting to manual in the Ghia, the gas system is now maxing out in the low 4000 range, it used to wind all the way to 5000 when it was auto. One thing to note is that is does "only" have a 6mm gas line, it should really have an 8mm line.

Cheers

Hmmm. I only have 6mm on both my falcons from the lock-off to the converter. Its one thing I do want fixed. But the rest is flexi.

Of course, I also need to get decent flowing lockoffs

Mine maxes out at around 5k when ice-cold, but 4k when hot.

8mm line should be good enough, standard lock off's that can run 8mm line will flow a fair bit.

Most LPG installers use 6mm line because they are f**k panzies & can't be bothered with a little more effort to install the correct sized 8mm line because it's "harder" to bend. Words straight from a not so lazy installer who also does a lot of performance LPG work. They will only use 6mm line on a low power 4cyl car, everything else get's 8mm line.

Not to mention 6mm is a bit cheaper. It's like they think everyone on LPG is a cheapskate and doesn't give a rats about the power their car could be making if setup properly.

Cheers

I get this - even my escape got 6mm line (and a comment thats way enough)

Ive updated both the falcons to Flexible line - more because I did them and I didnt want to deal with Copper. I also remembered from 20y ago that even then you couldnt do a v8 properly with 6mm.

I still have the 6mm piece from lockoff to converter - but that was because I had the fittings and line there - I just need to pick up a piece of 8mm copper and the fittings to fix that up.

I also heard it had to do with cost - no installer keeps both on the shelf, and the 6mm stuff is way cheap.

The price difference isn't huge, but the 8mm is more expensive. I'm seriously thinking about asking the LPG place that will do the roady on the red Xr8 to remove the 6mm line & fit an 8mm one while the car is in their shop. Monday I should have a quote for the adapter I need, hopefully it's not too expensive new & I will just order it, can't seem to find one second hand atm.

Cheers

Okays, time to post up something stupid...I think Fiend will get a good lol outta this!

Awww s**t, no HTML or embedding vid's...ah well, follow the linky below for a good lol. Yes a mighty boy can pull more than the skin off a pudding!

{DESCRIPTION}

It's me getting flat towed @ 95kph in my mighty boy, down the hume highway lol.

In other not so stupid news, got a few more little things done on the Xr8 tonight after work, found that the metal brake line on the diff is cracked & leaking fluid. I've pulled the auto computer out, installed the bottom rad hose, the header tank & new hoses, started to sort the LPG wiring a little too. Need to swap the steering column(too much free play in this one), finish the LPG wiring, fit the peddle pin & setup the clutch cable. Then install the thermo fans, intake plenum & it will run.

A shot of the straight LPG impco 425 setup removed from the 5.0.
Image

V8 clutch peddle, from the Eb2 Xr8 I'm parting out, going into the EB1 Xr8 that is getting worked on atm. Wonder why it has V8 on it?
Image

The LPG 02 control box & it's mess of wiring that was thru the clutch cable hole. I'm thinking I might just extend this loom a lot & mount it up under the rear of the center console or under the drivers seat maybe?
Image

Cheers
