{USERNAME} wrote: Dam that sucks. Im gonna have to be REAL careful for this when I get my pulley and intercooler fitted. just make sure your bov is the 32mm one and is releasing the pressure when it should.. i was a little shocked that happened, as the car doesnt see 10psi or get reved to the limiter everyday.. it probably gets a huge boot full at least once a week and when ever it goes on the dyno.. but on the up side.. tim at raptor is willing to fix it under warranty as long as i fit the 32mm bov.. (now hows that for customer service!!!) so the the charger has now been removed from the car and is going to be sent to raptor next week for a re build and a few internal updates.. |

thats a relief Troy. You should look into the cooling jacket for the raptor, or whatever its called. Should drop the intake temps heaps.
As for the BOV, that sucks coz I just bought a 25mm dual port Turbosmart one a month ago. I guess Im just gonna have to bite the bullet once the smaller pulley and cooler goes in. Where you you using the stock Bosch BOV or an after market one?

Where you you using the stock Bosch BOV or an after market one? i was using the stock 19mm bosch bov.. but tim now has the larger 32mm bov,s like the one he is using on the v8 raptor kits.. the 25mm one you have might be enough.. if i was you just check with tim to be sure.. the only thing i need to do is get the new bov mounting bung alloy welded into the intake pipe.. fit the bigger injectors and (sigh) another dyno tune!! |

No worries Troy, I just sent Tim a PM about it.
I look forward to seeing your beast breathe again in the near future mate. Should be good once done.

So......might be an eleventh hour BOV adaptor welding, to have your ED at the all ford day.......
My BOV is only 25mm.....and it does the job. With no signs of flutter, i'd say it's perfect..... Cheers Daz

Cheers Daz yea it will be a close call... i did notice if i was on the throttle upper revs in 2nd and 3rd gear and backed off i could hear more flutter than bov.. |

Cheers Daz turbos are different. as soon as you get off the throttle, there is no exhaust gas to keep the turbo spinning, you might get a quick flutter, then all the pressurised air that was in the charge piping is gone. with the charger, you get off the throttle at high RPM, the blower is still pushing massive amounts of air until RPM drops, so trying to flow back past the comp wheel is very difficult and puts alot of stress on the drive system. basically with a centrifugal supercharger, the bigger the BOV/bypass valve the better!

Fair enough.... I've seen a few cars with dual BOV's, prolly bout 25mm. Looks like the same size as mine. Troy, might be worthwhile if you can get anymore boost out of it, to fit 2 X 32mm ones??? Cheers Daz

do you need to recirc it still? (legally you should i guess )
i'd grab one of those 50mm TIAL copies off of ebay, you'll probably need to soften the spring, chop coils+stretch to original length...
