after the manual conversion i was driving around for a couple of days with half the auto loom with the inhibiter switch/gear position switch cable tied to the side of the box as im still using the auto ecu.
so instead of cutting and soldering the resister to the ecu like i did in my ea. i removed all the wires and pins i didnt need from the round auto gearbox loom plug and soldered the resistors in the plug and put the rubber seal back on then just pluged it into the loom in the engine bay. .. coming up next is the bbm conversion!!! maybe?lol ive seen where the resistors are just soldered to the wire sticking outside the plug and the wires were taped up.. ive seen them soldered at the ecu plug.(like my ea was) and i think the doco on here has the resistors wedged into the female side of the plug.. ive just concealed the resistors inside the mail side of the plug and pluged it in.. im not boasting that its something new. im sure it has been done many different ways. im just showing how i did it... |

Just wish mine was going the same route - it ain't yet Thanks for posting all the little nick nacks you do, and don't let the knowledgeable sods like old mate Nicco stop you. If you pick your nose sideways, there's people willing to read about it and others willing to tell you they fit two fingers in each nostril so why bother telling the world. Personally- I've not tried two fingers, and although I can see the attraction of going in sideways in order to work that booger down, I've not been in the least successful. |

well
i brought a crow 2519 billet cam today.. i also brought a new rollmaster vernier gear.. here are the specs.. 2222519 IN. 20/62 EX.64/14 dur 262 258 dur @.75 198 198 lobe centre 113 valve lift in.494" valve lift ex.472" fitted it today and it goes well but its not really dialled in properly yet.. before i removed the old cam i noticed the timing dot on the cam gear was about 6mm above the top of the head at tdc instead of 3mm. so im asuming the head may have been shaved or the chain may have stretched?? so at the moment the cam is 1 deg advanced..to try make up for the difference.? it feels slightly weeker under 1500 rpm (i might advance the ignition timing a bit and see what happens) but from 1600 rpm it starts to come alive and pulls good and really starts to pull around 2500 rpm to rev limit.(being a manual doughy under 1500 rpm its not really a problem) it hunts a little while the aircon is on and is running a little rich but once the ecu learns hopefully it will be better.. and next weekend ill look at doing the bbm and el ecu.. here are a couple of sound clips. http://au.youtube.com/watch?v=sccuNjtlCBQ http://au.youtube.com/watch?v=1LYv_581wa0 You do not have the required permissions to view the files attached to this post. is that TDC on the balancer?.... if so, it might have slipped you can check TDC with a special tool, or you can remove the spark plug and stick something in their with a few marks drawn on it for easier visual on what the piston is doing. Turn the crank by hand and watch carefully when the balancer mark approaches the pointer on the timing cover. Take note when the piston reaches the very top of its travel, stop and make a mark on the balancer at the timing cover pointer. Then continue to turn the crank and take note when the piston starts to move down again. Stop and make another mark on the balancer. Exactly in the middle of these two marks youve just made is the true TDC. It might line up with the factory mark on the balancer, or it might be off if the balancer has slipped. Either way trust this new mark also, the 3mm rule doesnt always mean its out.... like you mentioned a few things can play with the position of the mark on the cam gear. Only way is to get the cam sheet and dial the cam in to its specified lift @ TDC |

thanks mate.
yea i found tdc by using a pencill in the plug hole to find the point of tdc. i need to contact crow to get the cam sheet and dial the cam in properly as i didnt get the sheet with it.. |

Yeahp. Sorry to cause any undue concern. You're right tho brother. I am getting confused again. Can I adjust the timing on my EF motor easily, or do I need a computer degree and an ounce of luck? Whatever. Nice Photoshopping too --- How about finding a power aerial for it so you can tuck it away a little? |
