it was 3.27..
there is not a huge amount of difference between the two ratios,
but still noticable...

being manual its noticable, maybe not so much in an auto..
and considering mine was due for a freshen up anyway it was no biggie..

i went a bit nuts and decided to cut a nice hole in my inner guard to run some intake pipe through to behind the bumper..
well after all that i found that the 2 pod filters i have wont fit behind the bumper..
so untill i find a narrow pod filter i just ran a 3" pipe just to the base of the bumper to catch the cooler air and feed it to the pod in the engine bay..

while pulling the front end off i noticed my passenger head light was falling appart, the adjustment screw clips were broken and had silicon holding them in..
so rather than pay big $ for replacement xr lights i did a little mod to the adjusting screws to give the lights another chance at life...

Troyman, the pod I use (which is from the capa kit) is a K&N. Its a 3.5inch ID (same as the intake pipe I'm using), and is long and narrow, so still has good surface area. Fits in the same position you're trying in my vehicle.

I bought a new one last week, so can give you the product number if you'd like, although neck size will be too big...

Joe

Nice work on the Xr lights adjustment repairs Troyman. I will have to check over the set of XR lights i have to see if they are all in good nick or require the "Troyman repair". :D

Cheers

that would be good joe, i need something that has a 100-110mm outside diameter to fit.
if the id is to big i can use a reducer

Troyman, this is the one I use: http://www.knfilters.com/search/product ... od=RU-3130

RU3130 is the product number, dimensions on the website. Its 7inches long, so still good filter surface area for a narrow one. Mine was $87 from Repco.

Try here http://www.knfilters.com/search/univ2.aspx?ID=S0013 for a bunch of other options....actually you'll need to change the search selection to 3" ID.

Joe

interesting mod with the inner guard Troy. Im afraid to butcher my inner guards until I get my car RTA complied and engineered. But when the time comes, I may go the same route as you.

i got excited and finally got some 32mm 90 deg silicon hose bends,
this is to give the look of the bov being plumbed back, but actually discharge under the manifold and intake pipe..i was going to plumb them back properly but there may be a diffent engine combo coming soon? so im not going to bother...

anyway i finally got a hold of a steering wheel boss kit with the cruise control ring fitted to it.
so i now have a 2 way switch on the steering wheel for set and coast instead of it being on the colomn shroud..
its in a perfect position for when im driving but, im not to keen on how it looks, so im thinking of painting the wood wheel centre flat black..or just get another wheel... :?:

the challange was cutting a square hole with round tools..

sometimes when you modify things you need to take risks,
and on the odd occasion thing dont always turn out as good as expected.. :)

Amen to that. It's almost half the fun of modding, and the part that most people can't appreciate, when they see your modified car they don't think you might have taken a few goes to get it right.

I would have used 4 little round switches on the wheel, stuck them in the position of the factory momo cruise wheels switches, that would have looked factory but tripped people out at the same time. It would be more work tho....

Cheers
