time for a little update.
after the cars debut at wsid a couple of weeks ago, i had pretty much killed the clutch. after its last dyno tune i noticed the clutch was struggling to hold under load, so the wsid run was the finishing point..lol.. i think its held up pretty well considering its still running the little ea 3 bolt clutch... anyway i picked up a new au exedi hd clutch kit, and i had to get my au flywheel re machined as it has been siting in the shed for a while and had started to rust. Attachment: DSC01943.JPG Attachment: DSC01944.JPG i also got new pressure plate bolts and getting new clutch pivot bolt and plate from our local ford friend. . i can finally fit the au t5 bellhousing that has been sitting in the shed aswell.. so hopefully the weather on the weekend is good so i can change it, otherwise im going to have to bite the bullet and pay someone to do it for me... nothing worse than laying on wet gravel while pulling a gearbox out..... ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- You do not have the required permissions to view the files attached to this post. |

Attachment: DSC01945.JPG now just got to change it all... You do not have the required permissions to view the files attached to this post. |

Probably mostly due to people's laziness, why you see many E series T5's missing the plate. Mine had fallen out, and i was tight for money so i put it back in. I think the bolt had slowly undone itself enough to allow the plate to fall out, so i put some locktite on it. Next time the clutch is out, i will be replacing it with a new bolt & plate.

alright, the car is back on the road..
unfortunatly i had to pay someone to do the labour as my back yard is wet and slushy.. ohh well! atleast ive know the guy for years and he dont mind be sticking my nose under to check there work.. it finally has the right bellhousing and a half decent clutch... the old clutch was fairly worn, it was just the matter of the ea clutch just couldnt hold the power being forced through the drive line.. but you can see in the pics where the fibres were starting to come apart from the clutch material.
