How ignorant of me to jump into your thread and spout on about wheels!

Your car is looking meaner every day matey, love the bulge! Will look awesome when it is done. Aren't you glad now you didn't go the B series route? Much better doin' stuff to an E series :)

Cheers
RD

I did not know you can BA style mags in E-Series offset. Did you buy them new? If so is it cheaper than buying a BA offset set and buying the spacers?

When you do get the bonnet finished it would have been well worth the wait aye.

I got my RPM switch the other day, have not had a chance to put it together yet. But I did open it up and had a look. And now I am curious, because there is a relay to solder on the board. I had a look at yours in the pics you posted and it looks the same. Are you using an extra relay, or are you refering to the built in one in your diagram?

Cheers

Josh

yep you can get most of the au to ba/bf xr8,typhoon and cobra rims in e series offset.
i dont like the idea of spacers. so i went with something that fit properly.
although if you did run spacers there is a huge range of rims you can choose from compared to e series..

with the rpm switch im using a seperate relay like in the diagram..
im only using the internal relay for earth continuenty as a switch..

So did you still put the thing together as per the instructions? Why did you need to use the separate relay?

Cheers

yea i put it together as per the instructions..
the reason i used the other relay is i had it connected to the bbm signal first..
and i didnt know how much power was being drawn through the vct solinoid because the vct unit has 12v running to it pretty much constantly as most of the normal driving is under 3000rpm.so the rpm switch is used for triggering only..and i dont know if the rpm switch componants are up to the near constant load..
i guess there is no reason you cant use the rpm switch on its own.

Fair call mate, but Ill tell you what. Ill use it without the extra relay, Like an experiment.... And if it does fail there not too much to buy another one.

Cheers

Josh

P.S. Troy what way did you set it up? Decreasing or increasing ?

Thanks Mate

Thanks Mate[/quote]

its set up for increasing on the power side of things but the rpm switch internal relay has a two way switching.(3 terminals)
if you were running power through it i think it should be set on decrease so it suplies power at low rpm and switches off at 3000rpm..
the way i got it set up is on increase.. so the relay has earth continuinty on the 3rd terminal when the power is off and the relay switches at 3000rpm breaking continuenty..
hope that makes sence??

What I am understanding is the cam with it disconnected is set for high revs (from when you first put your engine in, and said it was sluggish taking off but had good torque up high. So it needs to be switched on at 0 rpm so it is switched and it turns off at 3000rpm. So yeah decreasing does sound like the go.

Does this sound right to you mate?

Cheers

this week ive been workin on the bonnet in dribs and drabs.lol
just been ironing out the creases,a few little hail dents.
it seems to be a never ending process.. fill dents, rub back, spray putty, guide coat and rub back to find low spots and repeat...lol always repeat lol
i was hoping to have it painted by now but ive got all weekend to finish it off.
hopefully the weather is nice to me this week.

here are pics of todays effort.
