One of the reasens u cant put boost on a VCT is cause u cant change to cams over.. But thats mainly if your goin the turbo way.. Supercharging u can leave it with stock cam.. Will just have to get bigger zorst and smaller pully to get power increase :D

Please explain ?.
Why would you need to change the cam if a turbo goes on??

to allow more power, i believe it leaves the valves open a lil longer or something

If the cam is an issued itd still effect the supercharger too, putting more boost in is still going to end up the same way.
tbh it shouldn't matter boost is boost a restriction is still a restriction.
Id guess hed hit around the 190-200rwkw with atleast 8-9psi.
Btw what kit are you going to run troyman raptor or capa?

Im no expert about supercharging/turbo either. But I think that people who are saying you cant do it to the VCT engine are people who dont put superchargers or turbos on without intending to achieve much bigger gains than what TROYMAN is expecting to.

Hence the reason they upgrade the cam first before even thinking of the supercharger/turbo.

I could be wrong, but it seems to me that is whats going on here.

im going to be running the raptor kit..

why do you say that??
im not expecting stump pulling power down low or anything like that.
its reasonably strong down low na..
if it gets between 180 - 200 rwkw thats plenty enough..
and being a manual its already fun to drive without boost...

at the moment i will be staying with the xr cam anyway..
thats why i sold of the cms 3 cam i had..

its just that these kits are far from cheap and for that sort of money there are a lot of options....

check out what twrc7x??? did on his...had the kit installed and immediately went looking for more power...

fair enough but what other options are there???

turbo kit? this will cost me more in the long run!!!
although turbo does give me more power options later on but its always a matter of wanting more power.
so no matter wich way i go ill probably will always want something more..
so far its the cheapest kit ive come across as in bolt on power..

yes but a snort kit will still cost a bit more than the supercharger kit..

the reason i went down this path is there is no more work to be done after the kit is fitted and its dyno'd..
so if it gets up near 200rwkw or does a mid 14 sec 1/4 im happy..

and with the turbo kits there is more pipe work, intercooler mounting, exhaust needs to be modified, probably a battery re-location, and then the ecu and tune needs to be sorted...
and i dont think im going to get that sort of power na..

Mate, what can I say. I discovered FORDMODS a year or two back when I didn't know how to set the clock on my Fairmont trip computer by searching GOOGLE for "Fairmont Clock Set".

I then got another car and decided it was s**t as it wasn't a Fairmont and started thinking that since the aircon didn't work, I'd be able to remove it and stick a blower out of a Toyota in the space. Since then I've attempted everything but that!

Always wanted to blow it up properly - this poor old little EF engine of mine. And that would blow it up good and proper. Then it'd be a natural thing to follow your original AU insertion (without dizzy...!)

Gawd forbid Troyfella... Now looking into buying VCT's locally. They appear to be about $1000 with all the bits bar alternators or one or two bolt ons.

All I ask is that you detail everything you do from this point on with great precision!!!!
