Just a warning man, unless you've got a Vortech/OBX rising rate reg and you're swapping diaphragms to adjust the rate, chances are your adjustable reg is only adjusting base pressure, so it's not going to help you much on boost.
Be careful, there's a long list of people who have popped motors playing around with boost with only a regulator to protect them

Not that it will be suitable for your build but the VCT reg is 3.5 bar or 350KPA is it not?

probably??

if thats the case im going to go back to where i got the reg from and shove it right up there a**..
this is already starting to leave a bitter taste in my mouth..
nothing is ever straight forward!!
im getting p****d off..
these performance shops had treated me like a dummy because i was asking for a 10:1 reg and its turning out that they are the f**k dummies...

today i fitted the walbro pump and replaced the factory au flex hose on the intake with a proper silicon rubber one..
with all the hassles im having with the fuel system im now considering just getting the aftermarket ecu and be done with it..
looks like my stimulus money will go torwards the ecu..

this a pic of how it is now..

Hey Troy, I think that in the long run, you will be much happier with the ECU option. I say do it while you can afford it.

BenJ

PS. My shifter isn't here yet. Sooooooon I hope.

the one that came with the kit was hitting the bonnet, manifold and rocker cover..
while it did look fantastic i couldnt latch the bonnet so i had to test drive it with the saftey catch only..

Prolly only needs a cut and shut to change some of the angles, wouldn't be much over an hour to fix.........

Troyman,

as this thread is 33 pages i've skimmed roughly... Can you please give us some details on where that short throw shifter came from off the net? sounds cheap... does it work ok?

Also your SC, is it CAPA or Raptor? Quick question regarding it, do they need any oil feed lines of any sort? Or just strap a belt to it and hook up some big intake pipes?

All in all... congrats on one hell of a car... the day you sell that bonnet let me know... i love it... i'm doing some small mods to mine currently... aiming at some of the things you've done... However you've got so much time and money  anyway keep the ideas and mods coming...

Cheers,
Tim

Supply the Bonnet & the Bulge and it can be done.

i'm not keen on bogging and sanding (like troyman seemed to be doing for ages on his)

just as a rough figure... what would it be worth to get one grafted on all the way up to being ready to be under coated?

time frame, again very rough is ok...

bummer is that I live 6 hours from sydney...

Thanks,
Tim

Hi Mr Troyman,

I know how you feel about the fuel regulator....
I bought one from a guy who told me it was rising rate and suitable for boosted applications.

turns out it's 1:1.12 or something like that... so not much of a "rising" rate.

I've got the walbro 342 pump too.. so now looking for a real rising rate and will probably get Jason to help me out with a J3 later.

Been looking at this for the FMU..
http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/OBX-8-1- ... ccessories

Look at the pic though,, I can't see how you'd set the base pressure.. though since you're supposed to leave the factory unit in place I guess you don't have to.

Base pressure is set by the stock reg, this regulator adds an extra 8psi of fuel pressure per psi of boost

Is there any way to get a rough idea what ratio you need?

My needs are different to Troyman's in that my blower is PD and has boost from idle and his winds up like a turbo... how does that effect the requirements of a rising rate regulator? Mine will require extra fuel before the centrifugal blower.

Is there any way to get an idea of what type of rising rate will suit my requirements?

rgds

Frank
PS.. Sorry for jumping in My Troy, I'll stay out of your garage thread from now on.
