Boost reference rising rate regs add more fuel with boost pressure not rpm so I dont think it would be any different in your situation.

More boost more fuel, doesnt matter how early it comes on.

Hey Troy,

Looks like you need a decent looking intake tube to replace the ugly plastic kaka........

Is it 3"??

Cheers

8-) Daz 8-)

lol..
yea its 3"
the one that came with the kit was hitting the bonnet, manifold and rocker cover..
while it did look fantastic i couldnt latch the bonnet so i had to test drive it with the saftey catch only..

Just get some 5/8 thread bolts longer than the standard bolts that hold the bonnet on the hinges, chuck some spacers in and it should solve your clearance issues. Maybe

The entire bonnet will sit above the front quarter panels, it wont line up and will look silly.

Your idea = Fail.

Cars looking great troy.

No it won't, it only sits up at the back, but because you don't move the latch the front stays down. It's real good for heat extraction to.
I know this from my own personal experiences, I have done this to one of my own cars.

TroyDude... That bulge on the bonnet... Just how hollow is it, and just how big is the intake piping?......

For bonnet

Refer to page 26..

Last picture.

Good chance its 3" intake piping

The higher VCT head is also adding to the problem

I thought I had seen this photo before - wasn't 100% sure, which is why I asked the question.

Having a whopping bonnet bulge could result in a taller engine bay........

Could.

Don't know what the Aussie laws are, but no one over here had ever failed an engineers report if they chop the inside supports of their bonnet out as long as you're adding something elsewhere ... Another thing - - - Any chance you could grab something like glad wrap, place it over the whole lot and compress bonnet to see what bits hit exactly?

For those not wanting to hit page 26...........

Lets face it..... Having those extra hunks of metal in your bonnet is probably less of an effort to fix than moding your K-Frame. I'd suggest an engineer would spend more time looking at the chop n weld in front of sump than a couple of bits of missing or re-aligned bonnet....

cheers thanks mate..
but ive decided to go a slightly different path.. since ive fitted the walbro pump there is no sign of it running lean yet.. but it now has a huge pinging problem..
it stops pinging at 4 deg atdc but by that stage its a dog untill it hits boost.
so im not liking that idea..

im looking at a piggy back ecu . a ems stinger or a smt8..
that way it can be tuned on the fly or dyno..

the intake pipe is 3" but it was hitting the rear brace on the bonnet and throttle cable bracket.
and i dont want to chop the bonnet for some pretty pipe..

Fair enough... I reckon bonnets with holes all over them look damn silly myself... Especially when you chop it just to show that you couldn't fit a pipe through somewhere. What would making a 1" high by 3" long box segment do for you? May start looking like an EF intake................

Cant you run a J3 chip Troy or run an MSD boost retard ignition system like the boys running N20 do?
If you are not leaning out you may not need an aftermarket computer just a timing retard for when it comes on boost.
That way you can get plenty of base timing in to cure the off boost performance and then pull it back to cure the pinging under boost.

anyway..
todays efforts consist of fitting the short shift.
as usuall a few things needed to be modified..
well to get to the front bolts where the shift bolts to the box you usually need to unbolt the gear box cross member and lower the box down a little..
but ive decided to drill 20mm holes in the trans tunnel above the 2 bolts so they can be undone with a socket.

i also swapped the internal springs over to the stiffer ones supplied to give it a tighter feel.
i also had to grind the rubber boot plate down to clear the adgusting bolts..
its a tight fit in the factory boot but it fits..

over all its pretty good for the money.
it feels alittle tight but it might be because its still new or the heave spings are a little heavy..
oh and another thing the factory for shift handle dont fit as the hole centres are different but lucky it came with a pretty cool handle...

Hey Troy.

Good to see you pioneered the install on the shifter. Now I know what I will need to do when I install mine. Still waiting for mine to arrive though.

Cheers
