18 JUN 09 - NEW ENGINE, GEARBOX, INTERIOR, WIRING, ETC.

I’m just about ready to start my next big upgrade on the wagon. As soon as my last exam finishes on Thursday the 18th I’ll start up (I’ve got an entire week off and a mate will be giving me a hand too). It is:

AU Tickford XR6 VCT motor with the head freshly rebuilt by Joe of Cresent Motorsports to Stage 4 and a custom VCT cam for the centrifugal supercharger application.

Gearbox is a standard later model (6 bolt flywheel) E-series T5. Has a quick shift on it with positive stops. The clutch is a PBR RPM something or other (I forget now since it’s been so long since I bought it), pressure plate is an Excedy Heavy Duty unit. Got some decent oil and that lying around somewhere to go in it to.

At the same time as the heart transplant happens I’m going to rewire the whole car. I have in these 3 boxes the complete vehicle wiring from an DF LTD 4.0L I6 and an EL Ghia 4.0L I6, using these 2 (probably only the DF wiring actually) the entire car will be rewired so that it has factory wiring loom which includes all the luxury features. So I’ll therefore add all the luxury features including: Fairlane instrument cluster, Passenger Side Airbag Dash, high series BEM, high series headlight switch, high series indicator and windscreen wiper stalks, high series roof lighting, power windows, cruise control, etc.

I’ve also got at a bloke who does interior reupholstering 2 Cobra sports seats, a Fairmont back seat, centre console lid and the door trim inserts all getting done in black leather. Hopefully these will be finished not long after all this goes in.

21 MAR 09 - BIG BRAKE UPGRADE:

I guess it's my turn to start a thread here. First item for show and tell is my latest mod, a big brake upgrade from Race Brake Sydney. The rotors are DBA, they're 32mm thick, 343mm diameter and are 2 piece. The calipers are 4 piston AP Racing. There's a custom hub which uses the same bearings as the original rotors. Extra long braided brake hoses to reach the new callipers.

Installed them last night and replaced my drivers side strut rod to K-frame Nolathane bush that had sheered itself, so didn't finish till 23:00 by which time the old man was asleep so I couldn't bleed them. On my way to do that now though, and then give them a test and get a wheel alignment.

OH, that is nice.

I am afraid to ask how much though lol.

Do you have any more pics of your Wagon. Being partial to Wagons and all.

Cheers

brakes look freaking awesome. a few questions:

What offset does it run?

How much was the kit?

What are the rotors off, how much for replacement rotors/pads?

Cheers,
Jason

Yeah you are correct. It is standard uprights that have had some machining and a custom mount bracket for the calliper.

Price on replacement pads and rotors, I'm not sure, but I doubt it's cheap.

Yeah I know. it's because they're in AU onwards offset, not E-series as originally the brakes were going to leave me with that offset at the front at least.

Nice brakes Pity about the wheel offset.

You can reverse most simmons wheels though, maybe do this instead of finding more rims.

Brakes look nuts. I thought everybody was finding it impossible to get an upgrade with E-Series offset.

Simmons does modify them though, definitely go that way to get some sexy dish.
