A 4 speed conversion will make the world of difference to it.

Sounds like your handbrake could be stuck on........would explain the dramatic pulling up and the excess fuel burn.
Good to hear you got the grille in one piece. I wrapped it in a heap of bubble wrap to protect it from dodgy couriers  Pic's now please

Hey Upperkuts.

Nice looking Lane you have there. A very good base to start with.

As Huggie has hinted at, there are a lot of mods that can be done to make your lane your own.

Start with the practical, making it reliable and user friendly, and then do the more indulgent mods. Over time you could end up with combination of parts from variety Ford Models which if done tastefully will give you a custom one off car.

It has worked for me.

Cheers
BenJ

WAYYYYYYY too much work to convert it to a 4 speed. easiest option is LPG. as you know my DA LTD is 3 speed and i get 450k's from $45. thats with the factory 2.77LSD and 3 speed.

it sounds like siezed rear calipers - if you find a NC diff do the complete swap including calipers. it will see the handbrake issue fixed and a 3.23 diff ratio.

if you dont want the 3 speed find a T5 manual and throw it in. no need for ECU swap or anything (as the EA/NA/DA had separate ECU for gearbox but 3 speed and T5 have no computer control. so throw it in and drive off.

i have my old NC diff here in pieces i was going to fit the gearing to my DA LSD center (saves having the center re-shimmed) but it comes down to if i keep the car or not.

and if you remove the 3 speed send it my way :D

if there is no rust in the dog legs and wheel arches KEEP IT!!!! trust me. 2 LTD's and nothing but rust. every one i look at has rust. my NC has none. rust is a big thing in these and no one seems to want to tough it no matter how much cash you try and throw at them

thats pretty much it, but when you compare removing all the front end of the loom and dash and then hoping all the plugs line up (EA-ED changed plugs per series and year) so could end up a complete loom swap.

comparing to a T5 install - mal wood clutch pedal pin kit = no dash removal, change box and console piece plug in loom, drive away

I'll tint my tail lights and garnish this week so I'll get some pics of that and the new grille.. hopefully that will be sufficient

Starting a new job next week so hopefully I'll have a bit of spare cash left to spend on the rig after mortgage and baby.... LOL i just noticed how stupid that last sentence looked...

Just got back from 3 days in Tamworth mate.....sorry, forgot all about letting you know I was in town.........have to go back next Monday though for the day.....then I will be moving on to Glen Innes for the week :(
WTF happened to the SSS? I look forward to going there for a good steak when in town, but it was closed down with a big skip full of burnt s**t out front......looks like it was gutted? Had to make do with Outback Jack's
Anyway, next time I'm in town, I'll be sure to let you know.....keen to check out this Lane of yours
Cheers,
Mick
