Hi Guys
Newbie here with my first post and first dumb question.
I have a 96 Fairmont 6 cylinder with 235,000km on it well maintained new lowered sports suspension and everything works.
I just brought a 96 Fairmont Ghia with XR6 motor and body kit, the car has completely stuffed paint but otherwise would almost be good enough to put back on the road, my thinking was to take the leather interior, wood grain bits and body kit and put them in my good well known Fairmont and sell the rest, I hear the difference between the Tickford and normal motor is not much and the gains made with exhaust and cam are better on normal motor.

So should I keep the motor, the motor gearbox, or just sell the whole car oh is has lowered XR 6 suspension as well if anyone wants it

I had a chance to look over my new ghia and it is such a shame it was let go, the body is straight and clean the interior is mint and the motor gearbox etc care all good but it was parked up and the paint is stuffed and the suspension bushes also as far as I can tell that is the only fault with the thing. Anyway ZI have removed the body kit and a few bits of trim and I think I will try to sell the rest. so if anyone one wants anything let me know, although i would refer to sell the whole car

The engine is still better and performs better with upgrades over a normal engine.

Has stiffer valve springs, fuel regulator (normal is 270 i think and xr6 spec is 300kpa), cam different, suspension different, LSD of course, head slightly diff, has a 3mm bigger difference in the exhaust valves.

Oh and ECU is different, is a XR spec

+1

Well just a bit of an update,
I have decided due to time wasters who wanted to buy the car then not, to wreck it, I started the motor a video it running I had a friend give it a rev and a frog blew out of the tail pipe lol
I have since got the motor ready to be pulled out ever thing disconnected and had a wee accident and broke my leg at work.

My current thinking is to keep the motor box and diff and as and when I have the time fit them in my good car, less the frog and sell off the rest including the leather interior, wife like the interior in our car better so no leather for me

I have not posted enough to post a for sale thread so if you want anything PM me

I'd at least swap the head over, depending on k's on it compared to your current motor
