He bought the ute from an older guy who had the engine rebuilt about 6mths before my mate bought the ute, but the ute had only been driven 500km in the whole 12mths. With log book to prove it. Not enough time to show up any issues like loose rod bolts. He got a reasonable s/h engine from a wreckers, fit it, drove the ute around for a couple of mths, then decided he wanted a sedan so sold the ute to a mate of his that wanted it. Cheers ToranaGuy

update!
The EB, even with it's savage bottom end knock (ToranaGuy has heard it) did a trip from Bendigo to Calder BP inbound (120kms), then across to Melton (50kms) and then back to Calder outbound, then back to Bendigo. so approximately 350kms with 4 people and a 6x4 trailer. still has plenty left in it! A local wrecker has a EB XR6 engine with 206,000kms on it for $200! i'm going to listen to it running Wednesday and if all goes well it'll buy it!

seeings as this weekend is going to be a quiet one i wanna do that electronic shift kit to the EB.
now i can't find that thread but it didn't explain it for my car anyway. It's a EB Series 1 which from what i've been told has a seperate TCM. how would i do the variable adjustable setup? cheers in advance

You do have a seperate TCM module, that hides up under the dash iirc. You would need to identify the wires at the TCM plug that do the same function as the wires at the ecu end on the later car's.
Do you have a wiring diagram of your EB series 1? If you have a look at the pin out on the TCM, it should have the same named pins are the pins for the ecu on the later cars. Cheers ToranaGuy
