G'day guys well to be honest I'm over the ef, and my triton, head gaskets let go again, with 3 days on the rego, and 500 for a head gasket kit.
I need a ute and really want a 4b but had to do something asap, so had a look around not much out there, but did find a nice XC wagon for $1650 well I knocked him down to $600, went around had a look, and the deal was struck.
4.1 3 spd auto column shift 6 seater in white.

Anyway not to many plans tomorrow, push to get a roady sorted.
Long run thinking drop it, get it running well and tossing up matt black rat rodding it.

Could look rather good "rat rod" style. Much rust in it? Just cheap cause it's not a v8?

Cheers

haha, nah sounds like if possible dad want the manual made to fit in his AU, and not real keen on going efi, thinking keep simple since it is a simple car.

V8 would be nice but hoping to just use it as a daily for a little while when I have the cash I want another 4b ute, and get the lane on the road. eventually sell it on.

I did this to mine many years ago, it is do-able if you can find one. One thing however you need to strengthen the RH D pillar to accommodate the weight of the tailgate when its open. Make sure you get an electric one

Also consider this
XE column with indicator stalk & intermittent wiper stalk with steering wheel of course.
A bit of messing around but once again do-able

Interesting, and of course electric, also need the big flower rails, roof racks.

Yeah it maybe more practical but I really like how the whole steering wheel dash etc. lay out, including horn on the indicator stalk. and pulling out the switches etc.

Yeah scooty I called him up about that, it's been hit by the floods he's in caboolture, he may part it out now.

I've also acquired a couple nice goodies, a 2 way tailgate, and an exhaust system with extractors.

and and
a sun visor. 8-)
sadly non electric, but for the price, wasn't gonna say no. Might look into adding that later, but I must admit, I can see a bit of an advantage to leaving it manual, from using it for the past week.

Well been meaning to update, but been flat out with a new job, anyway got a new exhaust under it etc. extractors back to the diff, left it off due to couple problems, with the tailpipe.
Got new pads did the oils etc. but having linkage problems one was flogged out and basically fell out, causing forcing it into gear so made a new one, but something must still not be right. as the day before at work I went to get lunch came back shut the gate and then it starting rolling back, snapped the gate etc. drivers door was open and caught on the gatepost bending that. I wondered if maybe I may have although have been pretty careful with it but then it nearly did the same the next morning when leaving home while warming for a minute, as I was moving something. but saw the reverse lights come on and got in and stopped it.
So now I have to pay for the gate and find new door hinges/ or repair mine. :(

anyway a photo of the damage

I'm keenly interested (5 points to whoever gets that reference)
I myself have had my eyes on the lookout for an XA/XB wagon that doesn't cost the world. Plenty of XC's about, but then I'd have to f**k around with sourcing and changing the doors, guards, grille, bonnet, stone tray, front bumper and the hardest of all the dash.
