well this is the new toy, moved out of the E series into something a little older.
its a ghia, has all the power options, 302 clevo, 4speed manual toploader and typical borgwarner LSD.
had quite a fair few issues with it when purchesed, wasnt running right yada yada.
have since fixed alot of small things, cleaned it up quite alot, removed and painted some smaller exterior triming, and giving a really good polish to bring paint back.

whats in order, build 351 stroked to 408 and drop it in, have the gear box rebuilt, and got a 9 inch housing that ill build and stick under it, all while this is happening going to have small patch of rust over the RHR wheel cut out and fixed up, and intire in an out respray along with cutting out any rust that emerges but not expecting to much, in pretty good shape.
well thats bout it for now thanks for having a look

Odd to find an XE with a toploader, would expect it to have a single-rail.. :?

Good score, nice car. 8-)

beautiful example of an x series, i like the shape of these cars, problem is finding one without rust, but then the problem with finding one without rust is you dont know if its been repaired, and how good a job they actually did  will make an awesome project car, having a v8 just makes it even more awesome

yeh ive not seen one with the toploader combo, i was orginaly wanting a auto with stally etc but yeh loving the manuel alot more now ive driven it.

indeed rust is a issue, theres couple spots where lil bits have shown themselves, 2 spots not major, jsut 1cm aprox little slits. worst of it is over the wheel arch, has bubbled out, im fearing that it has been bogged over the wheel arch before as bog usely bubbles out.

overall not to bad, was wondering if anyone would know, im thinking of putting the XF front on, with them open grill things that look like this, is it all pretty much striat swap a nbolt on?

and also anyone know what model these tail lights are off?

Thats an XG ute/van grille. Those are normal XF sedan tail lights.

Gotta drill a couple of holes for the lights brackets but the XF sheet metal is pretty much bolt on.
Why would you want to molest a Ghia but by fitting an XF front end?
The XE ghia front is one of the toughest looking fronts around.

Please dont change the body into an xf... XE's are so much nicer and IMO are worth much more untouched body wise then a molested one. there is a 79 XD for sale on carsales i think with XF panels... it would be worth much mroe IMO if it was untouched in that aspect...

I agree, the XE is my favorite by far. Especially a Ghia.
