so today saw the brakes done and new rear shocks :D the back left had the thread snapped off it and it was buggerd, car seems to handle alright havent really driven it no money not much fuel came home :P

Image

also up above was a picture of the shifter now ive been doing abit more to this today seeing how im stuck at home all weekend.

Image
the surround will be painted black.

yes thats the B&M shifter handle the thread on it is stuffed you can buy new handles off the B&M website pretty cheap so it didnt bother me to mod this one for now  just have to shorted the rod poking out the top (ive done that so it still acts like the standard item) and its pretty good to drive with. The one thing i wasnt to keen on with the mega shifter is the height its pretty much level with the heater controls so i may leave it like this (see how it is when done) and sell the shifter off cheap, so far im happy with it no dramas nice and low and its pretty different will look better once the finishing touches are done.

Wednesday will see the ute with a set of extractors $420 fitted and come with a 2 year warranty 8-)

today i went out and grabbed some bits i needed for the ute.

firstly i paid for my shocks that we fitted on saturday (very happy with the handling now)

then i went to rokeby wreckers to get the fuse panel trim as mines never had it, i got one out of a xf wagon has the rear wiper controls on it that i need to delete them when i paint it to suit the interior. i also had to trim it a touch to fit where the diagnostics plug thingo is :P its also came with a free gauge lol.

called into tafe then i called into repco on my way through to new norfolk and bought some matt black paint and a flexible pipe to get some cool air from the front off the car to the pod.

Pics (theres quite a few  )

pipe

cant see it in the pic in real life its quite noticeable

and the new trim

where it had to be cut (cant see it when fitted)

the gauge looks kind of old school :P look pretty simple to wire up if i decide to leave it, shifter is 90% complete just have to do something with the rod at the top then its done.

pics of the extractors will be up tomorrow after they have been fitted :D

so today i got my extractors fitted, when i went to pick up my ute it turns out its had a gutted cat the entire time ive owned it :P he said i didnt bother putting it back in now it wont have that bad hollow sound. so i left the shop and didnt really squeeze the throttle to much i assumed it sounded the same just abit deeper i got to the highway and stood on it and it sounds awesome nothing like it used to :D i will have to get a video up asap.

also while waiting for the ute to be done i went and priced a set of tail lights i wanted and no dont worry there not the crappy allteeza style ones with the little circles in them :P $100 freighted from sydney i paid for them today and they will be at his shop tomorrow at about 10:30 so there will be some pics up of the new lights tomorrow.

if anyone needs some lights or lenses in the hobart area i suggest going to see this boke at alternative spares in charles st moonah very helpful and if he doesnt have it in stock he will order it, and if he cant get it he probably knows who can. anyway enough rambling heres the extractors i will get a video as soon as i can.

today i decided i had enough of the crappy speakers in the ute wich actually look like computer speakers

so i got clarion 4 inch speakers for the dash were on sale for $37 and some fusion 6 inch speakers on sale for $67 and a 400W jensen amp for $99 im not after ear drum splitting sound :P so this should go quite well in a ute.

Image

and also grabbed a new fuel cap.

ever since the extractors have been on the exhaust has been at the diff :P so this afternoon i wonderd how it would sound with the tail pipe on and well i dont like it :?

before with the tail pipe it had a nice old school sound to it and at the diff it sounded completely different.

now with the tail pipe it still sounds like it did before the extractors but getting over 3,000rpm its just doesnt sound right and with the exhaust at the diff it sounds awesome so tomorrow the tail pipe is coming off and will be stored in the shed

just thought id add that as i found it abit weird, also its pretty quite with the tail pipe after having the exhaust dumping straight out the back of the muffler :P

today i noticed someone has hit my car  i dont know where or when it happend but im pretty p****d off lucky its only minor damage but the drivers side gaurd was pretty much mint.

so theres quite a long mark for about half the length of the gaurd i couldnt get it off (not to noticeable) theres a deep scratch aswell as marks on the wheel arch and also the wheel arch has been bent in slightly and also the bumper has dropped from the gaurd by a few mm.

got the replacement tail light today.

Image

also washed the ute and got some polish onto the gaurd the big long black mark came off as did the ones on the wheel arch theres only the deep scratch left and a couple of chips. also ill have a go at bringing the bumper up closer to the gaurd and that will probably do it.

so now as a result of this my ute wont be coming out during the week it will sit in the shed for weekends when its not so busy during the week ill either have dads navara or camry :P .

clarions in the dash fit like a glove
Image
fusions only spot they fit well and i wont be able to use the covers as they wont fit
Image
Image
and just a picture of the amp out of its box
Image

just need a amp wiring kit and im set but repco want like $80 for one :? i remember paying $30-$40 for a couple ive purchased one was autobarn wich are closed the other was at JB HI FI so ill go there during the week and have a look :P

basically after tint and sound system are done that will probably do for a while theres nothing much else i want to do to the car, i would like to get a project car something to muck around with. Pics will be up when the windows are tinted and the amp gets mounted etc.
