Ok found the rev limiter today, seems to be set at 6k mabey slightly before but definatly over 5800 :P

And i think i might try and get a 3.7 put in there after i've got my suspension done as it already pulls pretty hard of the line so 3.7 will do :P

ok i've got a couple of questions

1. If i was to get a entire new diff what XR6 diffs would be compatible with an XG if there are any, if not how much would i be looking at for a 3.7 to be put in it? :P

2. I have to get lots of stuff done to the suspension soon so i was thinking of lowering it, now since this is my first car i have no idea how much its going to effect it, so has anyone got some suggestions on how much i could lower it as theres also there clearance issue with the side skirts :/

you can only use a complete XR diff out of a ute or wagon? think wagons are leaf spring to cant remember :P sedans are not leaf spring or fit the centre from a sedan diff, you could probably find a set of gears on ebay but im unsure on what a work shop would charge to fit them.

depends if you have plans on fitting bigger wheels? but id say do some carefull measuring last thing you want is your side skirts being scraped on everything.

Hey, havnt updated in awhile becuase i was going to try sell the XG and get a "better" car

After lots of thinking me and my mate decide i'm going to keep the ute and spend 6k on it becuase it pretty much owes me nothing and thats how much i was going to spend on a new car

So i've been thinking of the things i want to do to it and i've sorta got a list just need money

I want to convert it to a 5speed
Get a XR6 diff
Lower it
2 tone paint job
fix the interior up make it look newer, some how?
Me and mates been fixing up an old ford V8 lately, not sure what it is or what size but i was thinking of buying it fixing it and droping it in the ute somehow mainly just for the beastlyness it would give it, not sure about this is it possible and what would i need?

good choice on keeping it  will go good with a 5sp and for interior maybe fit ef el dash and door trims? little bit involved in doing it i think should be a thread or 2 kicking around on here. lowering is a good option how low did you want to go? ive lowerd mine 2.5 inches all round lowerd springs in the front 2.5 inch blocks in the rear, you could go blocks or reset leafs. depends what its out of you would need engine mounts wiring loom manifold ecu probably a V8 auto probably more :P sounds like some good plans in the making tho.

I dont know how low i'm going to go yet, as i need bigger rims first lol :P, well the engine is a carby one, i'm not too good with the old ford stuff but i think it might be a Windsor or even a Cleveland, i had a look for a stamp on the block but all i could find was 405 on the exhaust manifold

easiest way to do it would be EFI but then i beleive it is still tricky for engineers i think ive read the easiest way is going LPG.

Well i have no money now lol, but i'm deciding weather to get a XR6 diff or a 5speed box first, because the auto seems to be slipping a lot lately and doesn't change gears properly (its not in LHM either)

But I've decided to finish painting it and all i'm going to do is remove the side strips and paint the bottom half of the car black :) mainly because the front bumpers black and i'm lazy
