The BA btr has the hole to fit the gear on but as SWC says you need to use a earlier extension housing, with mine I used my XG housing and driven gear which fitted straight on the output shaft,is your EB an auto?- you may be able to swap them straight over.

ahhh yes i see in your pic whats going on there .. yes maybe i can use my old eb extention housing as it as a 4speed auto aswell.. I have not looked at my eb gearbox yet. do you guys know if the extention housing will be the same. looking at your pic i can safely presume that no oil will leak out when you undo the housing. Is that right?

Is that right? If you prop it up at the back a bit you shouldn't get much oil,but I would recommend changing the bush and oil seal before you put the extension housing on-oil seals easy but the bush your better off getting a transmission place to replace it,they charged me $50- good insurance policy as you don't want to have to do it later after the conversions done.

{USERNAME} wrote: hopefully i can make the locks fit, were there is a will there is a way . use later [eb2/ed/ef/el] locks with the tibb key & should be fine {USERNAME} wrote: I was looking at the gearbox and it looks like there is a casting area for a speedo sensor to be fitted. I just need to know if there is a cog in there to turn the speed sensor cog. as SWC said {USERNAME} wrote: I should have the hole dash out 2morrow, so i can get most of the wireing out.. Going back to when i pulled the engine i was ment to mention, the chain i used for across the engine is only rated at 580kg and only just worked.. The links were they weld them, about 5out of 11 links craked at the weld. so i rekon the engine+box weighs about 700 to 750kg.. Every thing else i got for the hoist is rated at 1000kg and worked fine. must be a thin/cheap chain then mine will lift moi car! {USERNAME} wrote: When lifting an Engine use old seatbelts, best thing ever, don't scratch anything and they are as strong as anything you will need. yeah ... used some from work to tow stuff around & pull a bogged car out. prob a pity i threw out some today lol |

Mate i think the car your using for parts is a BF not a BA! not sure if its been mentioned before. there's a few little things i have noticed in your pics that make me think that.
the oil filter on the engine is the smaller one used on the BF (this could be down to a engine change once in its life previously) The pcm/ecu you have pictured uses all 3 plugs on the bottom, like the BF with 4spd auto did. the BA's only used the 3rd smaller plug for the turbo and Egas models, and trans was controlled through the first plug. in the drivers side door jam i also notice a sticker which im going to bet has some info on your PCM like a strategy number (i'd be cutting this out and keeping it for future reference, it might be needed if you are using the PCM that came with your donor car) The little Black plug next to the icc plug looks to be the plug for a BF YAW rate sensor for the DSC and although i cant see in the pic i'd bet there is a similar black plug near where your steering column was What numbers are on the stickers on your dash and H looms? Could you upload a Pic of the sticker in the Door Jam area near the hinges? Rob
