I would think the xr6 speedo units would activate at 5v because it only gives a 5v reff from the pcm?? but i have no idea?? they probly are all the same.. A voltage devider is pretty easy to make, just join 2 ressistor together. Im not sure off the top of my head what ressitance they need to be but after you join 1 to the other one side of the ressistors go to the speedo unit signal wire then othe side to earth and in the middle of the 2ressistors will be your 5v.. I learnt that in electonics class at tafe ..

I hooked up the bf cluster panle today which ended up being a ba one i think.. 80% of it works .. I did not get a chance to check the speedometer but tacho worked blinkers, lights hand brake, fule, temp all worked.. the things i have a problem with is, there is a red hand with a car in the hand flashing, aslo the oil light keeps blinking and making a bing sound every 10 seconds the hazards dont work the blinkers, the engine light is on and the engine temp light is on..

I was having a smoko and thiking about these speedo units, if they all are the same that should mean that the older speedometers need 12v pules and the new ones use a 5v pules, which hopefully should mean that my speedometer should work with the bf cluster pluged in.. Once i get it all woking il post up pics of my addapter plug and the pin lay out i have for it

ohhh s**t speedometer is working .. engine temp light is gone off and the engine light is off... I just have to look at the oil light because it makes a bing sound every 10second which is a pain to hear, and i still need to look at the hazards and thats it, tape up the wireing get sum mdf board and fit it in .. I will use sum liquid nails over the pins on the adapeter plug so the is no strain on the soldering i did on the plug..

You sure its not the bing noise for the seat belt reminder?

It bings with the timing of the oil light so im not sure. I know its got oil and its being pumped thru the engine so im not super worried about it. The ilumination lights work on the cluster aswell.. I lost my speedometer at the end of the day tho it runs off the can hi and can lo and my tacho still works, so now i have to see why i lost the speedometer.. I also put on my diagnostic scan tool and it read 2 codes.. 1 p0355= Ignition coil 5 circuit malfuntion, No feed back signal... 2 p1132= No DTC, PCM attempting to correct a constant rich..

I was also woundering,, on the bf exhaust it had a o2 sensor be4 and after the cat convertor. Should i have put both them on my exhaust or dose it only need the 1 o2 sensor near the headers?

I got the hazards going I just did not hook the hazard wires from the cluster panel to the fuse. For sum reason the speedometer works again so thats good . oil light is still going off and the security ligh is also on, thats the red hand with the car in the hand. . Im not getting a p0355 code any more but im still getting the p1132 code.. its running rich for sum reason..

Probably wont hurt running without it, it will just throw a fault code because its not being detected. IIRC some tuners can turn off the 2nd O2 sensor in the PCM. jumpingjak wrote: the security ligh is also on, thats the red hand with the car in the hand. . The Security light may be coming on because the cluster isnt receiving conformation from the PCM/BCM that "its the right key" As you have security disabled. not sure on what to suggest here as i dont know if that light can be disabled. if it annoys you too much cluster out and maybe pop the LED off the board wont come on then.

I have done abit of work on this cluster today and have got 2problems left. It would have only been 1left, ie the oil lights binging sound, The oil light runs off the can hi/can lo, is that right? The 2nd is for sum reason when i finnished up i thort i would go for a 5min drive to the servo to get sum fuel and i lost my speedometer again. I seem to loose it after i use the diagnostic tool to clear the p1132 code. It is runnig abit rich and when i give it a quick hard rev it sounds like its choking abit like only on 5cylinders and it blows medium amount of black smoke out the back, but if i rev it up slowly it dose not do that. Il have to check out number5 coil and spark plug. I also kept the part of the bf exhaust that holds the 2nd o2 sensor so if i have to i can just undo my cat and weld that peice in ..

Getting there mate your correct about the oil light being run off the can bus (can Hi/Lo) almost all the lights engine related and gauges were on the Can hi/lo P1132 does relate to the downstream (one behind the cat) O2 sensor. it might be worth installing it see how it runs after that https://www.autocodes.com/p1132_ford.html

I thort so, that should mean the oil light should go off unless the sensor is faulty or unpluged haha.. were is the oil sensor on the engine?.. I googled the p1132 code, people on there say it has sumthing to do with the exhaust gas and the o2 sensor, or a vacum leak, dirty map sensor, im pretty sure all that is ok on the engine and the 2nd o2 sensor is the only peice missing from the puzzle so i might taking your advise and put it in.. ahhh least most the hard work is done ay just fix up odds and ends now ..

There may be 2 sensors in the block one is oil pressure the other to the left of that is a oil temp sensor (not sure if all had the oil temp sensor)
