i know the feeling with getting the rear door door trim to fit with falcon doors, i somehow wedged a cli[ into the hole and screwed into that, don't quite remember how it worked, but it did, i have a feeling it'll pop out under stress one day though.. -_-
on the hunt for proper fairmont doors anyway so until then i'll live.
very nice car you got there too, i've pondered at the thought of the xr light bit, but the cost is too out of my liking.
keep it up mate.

normal doors and fairmont doors are the same, the holes are there for everything, you just need the plasic sockets from the fairmont doors to fit into the square holes for the screws to screw in, as for the window reg rivits ect, ive always used short m6 bolts with nyloc nuts...

I'm pretty sure he's referring to the ones where the arm rest bolts, which are simply round holes, that need the scrivits installed, if they are NLA from ford, you should still be able to buy them elsewhere, bolt shops or something would probably be able to help.

They are a captivated nut. You can get them put in, I would think a lot of panel shops would be abl to help you out. Other than that the doors are exactlt the same.

well the door trims have to come off this week so i can cut my speaker wire and attatch plugs so the tint guy doesn't just chop away at them, as i've got cross overs on the door trims, i'll run down and ask if they can fit some to the door.
cheers for that, should help a few in knowing that. lol.

Not much going on at the moment... Cleared the air bag codes. Fitted leather centre console cover. Finished mounting another door trim...

Saving up for paint at the moment so living like a hobo...

Paint will be set back about another month or so, just went and bought myself a daily driver. stock standard, au fairmont ghia 5.0L... needs a little love, but apart from a bit of damage to the drivers doors, wear and tear on the leather seats, and bald tyres, its ready to go

Gonna bring the el to my new place next wkd so I can start tinkering again :D

When it goes in to get sprayed the bonnet will need to be stripped down, am thinking I may do this myself, or at least have a crack at it, and also sand the imperfections on the front bar down.

Does anyone have any advice on how I should go about this?

Thanks

Picked it up from my folks place yesterday and took the car in to get a preemptive roadworthy check. Thought it was gonna fail on the hight of the rear. But they didn't even mention it, it did however fail on crap wipers, rear centre seatbelt, and the front left bush needs replacing.

Pretty happy with that result. Will fix them up and smack some rego on it. Currently lining up the paint job again :D

Do need to decide whether I should lower and zorst up the au a bit first or later though... Tough call cause I get to use it all the time vs just look at the el.
