Nice work mate, that matte black should come out nice. Although I'd be scared to touch the car and leave a greasy hand print on it :P

Are you a painter / panel beater by trade ?

thanks mate. yeah im worried how much it will show the mess but nothing a quick wash wont fix so im not too fazed...

nope, desk jockey by trade. i had a family friend come over and show me basic spraying technique, and google has been a good friend of mine over the last few days. i would be screwed without the internet

It sure does. i got impatient and rushed a few parts last night... and now i have some orange skin effect in the boot and maybe on the roof.. and i also scratched the rear quarter panel fitting the bar.. awesome... so a bit of a sand down is in order.. i was really hoping to have it all finished by this weekend but it doesnt look like that will be the case any more :(

on the plus side. i figured out the bolts that i was looking for.. werent missing at all. i was looking for the wrong thing. and had the right screwssitting on the workbench. i spent a good hour pulling everything out of the shed looking for them.. what a wanker!!

AND then after all that. i dropped one of the reo bolts into the hole in the boot... double awesome.. magnet on a stick to get it out tonight....

everything was going great until last night... but should be back on track by... sunday maybe...

im also in need of a new bonnet and the bar that goes inbetween the rear bumper and boot, as mine are in s**t condition.. beyond my repairing abitlities at least, and will be cheaper to source new ones as oppose to having them repaired.

i will spray them anyhow, so the car will at least be ready for the road and then i can get them a bit later on...

Just ran out of paint. So the roof and boot are incomplete. And the temp bonnet has a hack Jon finish to it. But I'm done for a week or so until I can get more paint and a better gun because my Ebay special is leaking and spraying like shot all of a sudden... YAY. :/

Like I said. Bonnet, roof and boot all need more work. But it's coming along well

I would say if you have time and extra paint to paint the inside of the fairmont grill in a colour like red just to make it stand out more

What about the chrome mesh treatment, like REW93N? would go well with grille already on the typhoon bar..

Coming along nice man. Already looking ace!

yah I like chrome but with me living near the beach, the salt air gets to it and dulls the chrome. Might have to think about that, if it gets me out of doing the housework
