sorry about the late reply, I havent checked here in a while.
It cost me $350 for the engineer with me going to him, some places were quoting me up to $1000 but the guy I used was well priced and reasonable in his requests with out being either too easy or too hard...

bit of an update, during the week i picked up the C4 and a 3000-3500 stall to suit, then Friday night the ever talented and hansome Jase pulled the motor and box out before I even got there and started the swap over of bits and pieces to the next motor to go in.
Unfortunaltly though when we took all the manifolds of the motor I brought we have found the head gasket is already seeping oil out the side of the head and has been for a while so the descision was made to do a head gasket at the same time. There goes any chance of having it running this week.... bugger. Jase decided to show another of his hidden talents and released the inner artist that has been dying to get out of him and sprayed both the rocker cover and sump a lovely shade of Teal, just wait till you see it, lol, just dont look at it with a hongover, lol. So next to happen is the head gasket, with a head service at the same time then drop in the motor and C4, cant wait to see how it will get out of the hole, hopefully all will happen this week so we can move on to the next problem we face, sorting out a shifter and linkage to suit the box, and check the tail shaft to see if we will need to modify. An external gate is going in aswell to control the boost and hopefully save this motor so it lasts longer then 6 weeks, lol. Fingers crossed we are getting there...

OK, motor in, gearbox in, all together and running.
Gearbox: putting a C4 in an e series isnt as easy as some will tell you but isnt as hard as I thought it would be. The dellow bellhousing was no issue and the guys at TCI in seven hills have supplied a fantastic stally, more about that later, the gearbox crossmember had to have 2 holes drilled to fit the x series mount and then just 2 basic plates to mount the crossmember to the original points in the underbody. the tail shaft just slipped straight in and does not need to be modified. (I think this was because the dellow bellhousing moves the C4 back a bit to keep the btr length, as a result the stall converter had to be made a little longer than a standard C4 one, which isnt an issue as its a custom converter anyway). Stally: As mentioned above I am very happy with the stally and it seems to work really well. I havent had a stally before and can tell you that a 3500rpm stall is a weird thing to drive, lol. under the stall it deadset feels like riding the clutch in a manual, but stall it up and bring it on boost then let it rip and it turns perfectly good tread into smoke quite well..... Wastegate: the external gate is now mounted and working quite well although it isnt plumbed back into the exhaust yet, will be tomorrow, so hopefully the overboosting is a thing of the past. Apparently I now owe a big thank you to Jase and Joe for doing a fantastic job with the car and helping me out so much whilst I have had some hassles with my knee. So thank you Jase and thank you Joe.

Sounds like it is all going well.
Looking forward to being taken for a hell ride in the old girl. So what was the price on the stally? Its good to know of someone that has used TCI and can say if they are good or not. Might have to head there soon myself.

They charged $750 for the converter, A fair price for a good product. With great customer service aswell. remember thats a custom made converter, not an off the shelf item at all.

I would have thought a 3500 stall would be a bit to high for, what is essentially, a street car. You going to be racing it Yobbo?? We might have to have some joy rides around the CMS carpark....hehehehe Nice work, cheers Daz

yeah it is a little high for the street, i did ask for a 3000 stall, but Joe over ruled me when he ordered it, lol.
It isnt really a street car anymore, I dont have to use it for work or anything and have a company car plus the mrs car, so its pretty much my toy and I really want to run 12's with it. but in saying that I got it enginnered so I could drive it so it will still come out to Harry's a bit and the ocasional cruise aswell. As budget allows it will see more power and be a regular runner in Super Street, then eventually even Super Sedan. fingers crossed, lol.

I was lucky enough to be taken for a short little squirt in the old girl today and I have to say I am impressed.
Where we were Yobbo couldnt really let it rip too much and he is still sorting a few niggling things out with it but it has a LOT of potential! I was suitably impressed to be starting to swing across to the turbo brigade.......... the same as DA22LE's Maverick it is nice and sedate , cruise along then all of the sudden HOLY s**t! When the day comes that I do join the club but it will be on 8 cylinders............ Most definately needs the venetition and bowls hat but dude. The driver is old enough to be able to carry it off..............
