Hi all,
I just landed a new job and will be upgrading my wheels some time early next year... The purpose of this thread is to get a better idea of performance between the BA XR8 and the BA Typhoon.. Personally I think I'll go for the Typhoon, but would like to hear any info anyone has on both Thanks Pat |

Well the Typhoon wears the FPV badge, so that's cool for a start :p.
The typhoon really is a better car, they're a really good rive, bloody quick, and the turbo engine has a lot of power to be easily extracted. I'd have to say if it was out of those two the choice is simple, the XR8 is really in the same league as the stocker xr6t, it's just too heavy really. |

2006 BF Typhoon with all the bells and whistles is $76,000 roughly (thats internet price estimate).
2006 BF XR8 with all the trimmings is about $60-65, 000. Typhoon I think.. all things considered. |

Yeah, if you like that V8 sound, go for the V8.

Before I purchased any car I would test drive it, especially brand new. But you're right, it would be the easiest way to decide between the two. Just wanted to get some feedback and comparison from people. The Typhoon would be very quick and nice and all.. But now Im thinking I would miss the sound of the v8 and I could also do quite a few mods to the XR with the change I get that would of have been spent on typhoon. don't ask for peoples opinions, its makes it harder to decide and its personal choice.

Ok, I'll take that on board. But as I said, I am just after some info in performance comparisons and if anyone on here has driven or owned either to give me an insight, ultimately its my money and my decision.. Im not really influenced by others opinions.. just want to know some facts

The manitenance for a Typhoon will kill you though..
$2000 for a set of brake pads, at least once a year if you are nice. Expensive discs to go with it. Standard rims with a $2500 set of rubber per year... Bit of a killer. I hope your new job pays really f**k well. |

Yeah... I would dearly love a Typhoon, but the day to day running costs are massive. The pads for those Brembos are a killer.
I think Darren manages to get them for his GT-P for the $1100 mark, but he tends to go through a set or 2 per year... |
